Article: Who will lead Tennessee’s offense?

I believe both Worley and Dobbs will perform better this year under the same OC. AJ McCarron was dubbed a game manager. His focus.......get the ball to the play makers. I think JW or JD will be able to handle that much better in their 2nd year with CBJ.

Go Vols!

I expect the offense to be more wide open /spread out this year with the atheletes we have outside. The quick passing game will help out our young o-line. I expect plenty of 3,4,and 5 wide sets. Worley has been receiving high praise from people around the Manning passing camp and I think / hope he is going to have a very good year.

Does Al Wilson have any legacies coming our way??

How is it we dont have any little Travis Henry's by now? There's like a dozen of 'em isnt there?

On a sad note, after researching your question, I found out Al Wilsons son was diagnosed with cancer at 15 years old. I think that was in 2010.

I remember watching Alabama's Center Barrett Jones share the Leadership role with their QB. I think that will happen here this year, Mack Crowder will may end up doing a dual role Leadership with either JW or JD or possibly even ND. Whoever wins out on the QB role.

IMO it will be whoever can execute the read-option the best..also has to be the person who doesn't make mistakes in big time moments with the game on the line. Worley or Dobbs for sure.

I think that JW will win the job, it will depend on the line play when JD will be get in. But its not the first time CBJ played the 2 headed monster.

I'm not going to panic if Dobbs comes into the game. Guy is smart and has the best wheels since Tee Martin. He had his moments last year and a second year in the system has to help all the qb's. In essence last year when Dobbs was the ONLY healthy qb we had, it was like giving a 16 year old the keys to a Ferrari and putting him on a racetrack at 160 and telling him not to wreck it. It had to be tough, but I'm sure he learned from it.

Not as bad as Peterman. That's when I'll panic.

Let me preface what I am about say with I am in no way saying Peterman will be our savior, but it is crazy how quickly this place writes a player off. There is no doubt that his performance was about as bad as anyone could have had against Florida last season. Yet, it was only one half of a game. It was not only his first start but also his first time setting foot on the field in a game. Now add in the fact that it was a homecoming for him and the pressure that comes with that. Also add in that, at that time, he was facing one of the toughest defenses in the country possessed by a team that we haven't been able to beat in like forever. That's a lot for a young man to overcome imo. I think it's a little premature to simply write him off at this point. He deserves a chance to redeem himself and luckily for him, I think Butch will give him every opportunity to do so, unlike many in this fan base.

I hear you but Georgia Southern wasn't bothered by them! They went in to Gators backyard and PIMP slapped'em.

He reminds me of Heath Shuler. I have hopes that he will play like him at some point.

My money is on Justin for thus year and Nate for 2015. I love Dobbs too and it may be both of them fighting for the job this time next year but I believe Nate is the real sleeper here. Everyone wrote him off after a single (very bad) half as a freshman at the swamp. And he is still there, working hard and fighting to lead.

Why is he still there and Ferguson isn't?
What does it say about this kid that he continues to work, even though he is never in the conversation about our QB battle this year?

Anybody remember how the world waved off Ainge after his (very bad) mistake in the LSU end zone early in his career? And what he did in subsequent years?

Panic when we DON'T have a kid like Peterman on the roster. We are fortunate to have him and Dobbs and Justin and all of them.

Not as bad as Peterman. That's when I'll panic.

I'm actually worried about the OC and the play calling. I hate it when we go for a screen that barely gets yards. Good WR's are not really good blockers.

Makes me :cray: to have to like one of Doyle's posts but he is dead on. Given the situation that Peterman was thrown into, we really have no idea of what he could be going forward. Sure, just because he didnt shine first time he stepped on the field, it may mean he is not the second coming of Peyton but as a 2nd year who has more time in the system, he could become a very serviceable backup QB against lesser teams. Only time and experience will tell. But I will bet you that if CBJ didnt think he had value, he would look to free up a slot in the scholly list ;)

Hate to nitpick this post because you make some very good points. But the Florida game was the 4th game that he played in last year. Played vs APSU, WKy and Oregon..... Was 6-12 for 39 yds in those games before Florida.

A good wide receiver should be a good blocker. If they can't block, then they're missing a third of what it takes to be a good receiver at any level. Blocking in my opinion is one of their most important parts of being a good receiver. How many big plays happen when the CB is the last person to beat, but the receiver made a good block and let the rb get to the outside. I would say plenty. That's just one example though.
