Green mixes with Orange this weekend, and oddly enough it won't be a flashback from the acid laced youth of some on this board...

Tennessean:Vols Struggle With Depth
"Sometimes, these guys just need an opportunity to get in the game and prove themselves," Fulmer said. "We've got to be able to pull that trigger a little bit better."

Tennessean:Final Game In UT/Marshall Series
The 2010 game against Marshall in Knoxville was scheduled for Sept. 4 and also would have been the opener. Hamilton has two dates to fill that season. Northern Illinois was scheduled for Sept. 25 that season but was moved up to the 2007 season.

Coach Phillip Fulmer said Thursday that tailback Arian Foster (ankle) would play only in an emergency against Marshall.
Receiver Austin Rogers (shoulder) isn't expected to play.

tfpOnline:Vol Run Game In A Rut
"I think we’re trying to find exactly what we’re going to be," Cutcliffe said. "People may find that unusual: ‘Well, you’ve had them all spring.’ But this is kind of the real test. That’s what the NFL people use preseason games for, and I’ve got a much clearer picture now than I’ve had."

tfpOnline:Stewart Adjusts Just Fine
"I feel like Stewart retained more of the position," defensive coordinator John Chavis said. "It made it easier to push him into that spot."
Stewart said he didn’t mind. He’ll play "wherever," he said.

tfpOnline:Foster Out, other notes
Arian Foster won’t play Saturday against Marshall barring an emergency, Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer said after practice Thursday.
"Hopefully, we don’t have any emergencies," Fulmer said.

On the flip side, reserve tailback Ja’Kouri Williams appeared on the dress roster for the first time this season. Williams has been battling an ankle injury.

Defensive back De’shaun Barnes of Lincoln High in Tallahassee, Fla., committed to Tennessee on Thursday night. His announcement was telecast on ESPNU during halftime of the Eastern Kentucky-Tennessee Tech game.
"They treated me like family," said Barnes, who donned an orange cap alongside prep teammate Tim Lamb, who chose Auburn.

Monday’s surgery ended defensive tackle Justin Harrell’s senior season, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to leave the program.

Harrell has been on the field working with the Vols’ younger defensive tackles.

"We have to call him Coach Harrell now," Fulmer said. "He’s been out helping, and he’s been in the meetings.

"He’s one of the leaders and one of the captains of this football team. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a guy like him. He’s one of those guys you want to stay around as long as you can keep him around."

tfp's DarrenEpps' pick on the game from his blog is kind of funny...

On to the picks, using the spread...

Marshall (+22) at Tennessee: Matthew McConaughey will star in the upcoming movie “We Are Marshall,” which is about the Thundering Herd trying to keep the program afloat following the 1970 plane crash. A movie about the 2006 Marshall squad, which allowed 31 points to I-AA Hofstra, would probably feature the cast of “Little Giants.” An angry Tennessee team covers.
