Good Morning! Here's the reading material for Wednesday...

tfpOnline:UT offense promises its ready
It’s different than last year," Fulmer said, referring to the Gators’ 16-7 win last year. "We’re very capable of throwing the ball."

tfpOnline:UT needs Bolden effort
"Basically, I got frustrated," Bolden said of his long, slow slide from potential starter to the third team. "I started thinking too deeply about things. Coach Fulmer finally told me that I needed to look at things differently — that I could either step my game up or fall deeper down the depth chart."

Tennessean:UT goes on defense
"We're going to find out the real Tennessee defense," said senior cornerback Jonathan Wade, who paused and asked what time the game started Saturday.
Told the kickoff time, Wade nodded his head and deadpanned, "We're going to find out the real Tennessee defense at 8 o'clock. We have to come to play. Florida is no joke. They never are and never will be, and we're going to have to come to play."

Tennessean:Gator Barbs Have UT Wired For Game
The comments of Florida safety Tony Joiner about the Gators returning to their road dominance in the 1990s didn't go unnoticed by UT players.
Joiner told reporters in Florida on Monday that, "We really want to get into somebody else and take their cheese. Make a sandwich in the kitchen. Ham and cheese with a little turkey, mustard and mayonnaise."

Gainesville Sun:UF focus On Vols Big recievers
They're also big and strong, UF coach Urban Meyer said.

"A lot of those big plays against Cal (in UT's opening victory) were 6-yard throws where the corners fell off of them because they're big, strong, fast players," Meyer said. "We've been working on tackling. We had extra repetitions with our cornerbacks tackling today. I think their biggest asset is they are big, strong, physical receivers that you like. And they have great speed on top of that."

Chrissy Leak is 7-7 vs. top 25 competition.

I spend time reading everything I can find about this game in hopes of finding that sliver of info that says "Yes, Tennessee will win this game." I love the hype from both teams but the waiting is killing me. I need to know....Am I going to be a happy Vol at 11:30 Saturday Night?

Darren Epps, tfp's UT beat writer has a blog on the site.
This from a recent entry, the bit about Dick Nowling and Fulmer is pretty funny...

Filed by Darren Epps
For space reasons, I couldn't include every story the effervescent Dick Nowling, brother of former Tennessee star fullback and World War II veteran Bill Nowling, told me for my Saturday column on the four former players who died in World War II. Nowling's No. 32 is retired.
I'll use this space to throw in a couple of more stories from Dick Nowling ...
Using his white cane with a red tip to get around the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center, Nowling visited Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer in his office during Tennessee-Florida week several years ago just to say hello. Fulmer was walking out of his office to attend a staff meeting.

"Follow me," Fulmer said.
Remember, Nowling is blind. So Fulmer led Nowling into the meeting room and introduced him to the staff.
"I want you guys to understand how dumb Steve Spurrier is," Fulmer told his staff. "He sent a blind guy here to scout us!"
And one more ...
Defensive lineman Bob Suffridge is the only three-time All-American in Tennessee football history, earning the honor in 1938, 1939 and 1940. The Vols were 30-0 during the regular season with Suffridge on the roster. So yeah, he was pretty good.
Like I wrote in the column, Bill Nowling won the starting fullback job in his first year of eligibility. Back then, freshmen couldn't play on the varsity squad and had their own team. So one day, UT coach Robert Neyland — then Major Neyland — practiced a goal-line situation by lining up the freshman team against the varsity squad.
On the first play, Bill Nowling took a handoff and flattened the veteran Suffridge. A stunned Neyland called the same play, and again, Nowling ran over the All-American. Intrigued, Neyland called the same fullback dive again. This time, instead of trying to tackle Nowling, Suffridge started swinging with his fists.
Neyland kicked Suffridge out of practice but told an assistant to make sure his star defensive lineman didn't leave school. But Suffridge wasn't leaving campus. He was going to settle his feud with Nowling.
Later that day, Suffridge found Nowling in the library, which was in an old five-story dormitory back then. Suffridge put his books down and the two brawled.
"They went round and round and round," Dick Nowland said between chuckles.
At practice the next day, Neyland noticed Suffridge looked banged-up and pulled an assistant aside.
"I didn't know Bill Suffridge lost teeth in practice," he said.
Dick Nowling still howls at that story.
"Bill got his licks in," he said.

"It ain't about talking anymore," Vols senior receiver Jayson Swain said. "It ain't about getting on the Internet. It ain't about getting on the shows and talking about it. It's about going out there and playing Saturday."
