Awful to hear this, Arturo finally had his life squared away too, as entertaining a fighter as i've seen in my lifetime.

Police detain wife of former boxing champion Gatti

SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazilian authorities say they have detained the wife of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti as a suspect following his death at a posh seaside resort in Brazil.

Police say 23-year-old Amanda Rodrigues was taken into custody Sunday because of contradictions when she was interrogated. Gatti's body was found early Saturday in a hotel room at the Porto de Galinhas resort in northeastern Brazil.

A spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state civil police says Gatti was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found with blood stains at the scene. Milena Saraiva told The Associated Press that the Canadian also had a head injury.

Saraiva said authorities were preparing to present a formal accusation against Rodrigues.

I have no idea why they are choosing to do it on a Saturday morning but, if you have HBO, they are running all three Gatti vs. Ward fights back to back starting at 9 am I think. If you haven't ever seen these fights, do yourself a favor and watch all three. These will be save until delete status on my dvr for quite a while.
