He said academics and great teammates are main reasons why he chose uk.
Really ? Not immediate playing time and a promise of a fast track to the NBA ?
FYI, Brandon, hope you are speaking of your fellow signees because most of the current team is gone.
UK can offer the most underachieving college coach and program in the country.
uk is getting a good player but I hate this new era of one and done, selfish college basketball revolving around the overpaid pile of garbage that is nba basketball.
Kentucky signs two of the five best NBA prospects in this class before the five o'clock whistle. That's a pretty good day.
To be fair, the kid carries a 4.3 at the #1 rated academic school in Florida, and was considered for a Rhodes Scholar.
Kid is not stupid. He could go anywhere he wants with never even touching a basketball.
He and Wall should be commended for their attention to academics.
Still makes me queasy.
Let's not kid ourselves. 4.3 GPA or not. He sees nothing but nba millions this time next year. Good for him, bad for college basketball.
Agreed. Calipari may be the worst thing that's happened to college basketball since Sonny Vaccaro.
Calipari/uk's recruiting makes Duke and UNC look like they aren't even trying anymore.
The 1 year rule in general is the worst thing to happen to college bball. Can't blame Cal for taking advantage of it.
Right. I'm sure your elated not to have to put up with him at Florida for a year or two.
Its just another piece of fodder for people to blab about.
What these people fail to realize, or refuse to acknowledge, is that Calipari isn't the only coach going after these kids. Look at the profile of every possible one and done player. Almost all of them considered:
Kentucky
UConn
North Carolina
Duke
Kansas
ALL of the elite coaches are actively recruiting these guys. the coaches of all those programs would KILL to land all of the players they recruit. It just so happens the kids choose Cal because of his NBA track record.
To come out spewing that "Cal" has ruined college basketball, and "Cal" this "Cal" that, is garbage. Cal is recruiting the same kids as all the other "elite" coaches that everyone places on a godly pedestal.
Calipari didn't invent the rule. All coaches want these players.
It just so happens he gets more of them.
Brandon Knight, one of the nation's prized recruits, added to Kentucky's 2010 class - ESPN
Can't say this is a shock. Selby vs Knight would be an awesome rivalry that would probably help both players exposure.
