Thoughts for the weekend:

1. Saturday will define how UT's regular season is ultimately viewed. A win would give the Vols a quality conference win to go with handling all the teams they should have beaten. A loss makes this a season where UT essentially held serve.
2. I'm thrilled Butch Davis took the UNC job. I was beginning to have nightmares about him taking over for Shula at Alabama, after the Tide suffer beatdowns from LSU and Auburn.
3. Who would have ever dreamed that the FSU-Wake Forest game would have title implications for the Deacs but not the 'Noles?
4. Maryland-Miami-See thought #3.
5. Kentucky tries to get bowl eligible. I hope they do. I want them to keep Rich Brooks around for a long, long time.

Hat:

1. Agree. A win and Volnation parties and designates season a turn around pending foregone conclusion wins vs KY and Vandy.
2. Interesting pick for Butch. Lots of work and recruiting to do to bring program back up.
3. I hear ya.
4. Coker going to checking out Miami from his rear view mirror soon.
5. Would like to see any SEC team make it to a bowl. As with any KY football coach, enjoy your time until you have to packup the Uhaul again. Because it is coming.

Have a good safe trip.

1. I agree here, too. A win makes this UT season one to remember, with 10 regular season wins and two squeaker losses against top tier opponents (assuming Ky and Vandy play their usual parts as November fluff.) A loss is a mediocre season for our program, and while that may be a relief after last year, I don't really like mediocre.

3-4. I wouldn't have bet on it, but I'm glad it happened.

5. Since I live in Kentucky, I have to agree with you here, although judging by the program's history, the next hire wouldn't be any better than the last. My biggest fear would be that they rob our cupboard to fill their spot, which might or might not help their program, but could certainly put a dent in ours. Also, I wouldn't mind at all if Kentucky got beat in a driving rainstorm in 34 degree weather by Tulsa or Southern Miss in their bowl game to give Cat fans another 6-7 season to remember fondly ten years from now.

#1 hits the nail on the head. However, a win at Arky and a loss at Vandy would STINK!

If Tennessee loses to Vanderbilt for a second straight year, the fallout should be simple. All coaches-Terminated. All scholarships-Rescinded.

You think public floggings would be too harsh?

As an aside: Tennessee has not suffered back-to-back losses to Vanderbilt since 1925 and 1926, the end of Vanderbilt's era of dominance over the Vols.

Just the fact that the Arkansas game is a barometer still agravates me a little. If UT gets pushed around that will leave several unanswered questions for the UT season.

My reaction to a loss to Vanderbilt: How much money can we offer Stoops to stay in the NCAA? or How much is Butch's buy out at UNC? or Can Spurrier get a jet from Knoxville to Augusta National should UT be interested in his services?

At thanksgiving, I will give thanks that Davis is not in the SEC.

But, if it does happen.........It might even call for a hunger strike by the fans to clean house and right the wrong! That's just about where my emotional barometer would be.

Actually, if you see Switzer, tell him I wish he were still in Dallas and that Jones would have left.

If you see Switzer it will be hard to communicate with him since it will be hard to hear what he's saying since his nose is so close to JJ's behind!!!
