As strange as it might seem, we are UGA biggest challenger in the SEC East this year. After Mizzou's upset of S. Car. and our loss to UGA yesterday, UGA is in the driver's seat for the East. Their biggest challenger? Well, it's not S. Car. anymore and it sure ain't the Gators. Yes, Mizzou is sitting at 1-0 in conference play but we have them at home. We go on the road to play USCe but we might actually be favored in that game by the time it rolls around - either way, we'll definitely have a good chance to win it. We have UK at home and Vandy - well, enough said.

And if you really want to dream, UGA has to go on the road in a couple of weeks to play Mizzou and a loss would give them 2 losses in East play. We win out in the East (again, very doable) and we're in the SEC championship game. I'll go back to sleep now (or am I asleep and I need to wake up now?). :thud:

Longshot, but I like your optimism

It could happen! In 2007, we backed in to the S.E.C. Championship game.

Other teams ended up losing more than us so we got in. We certainly weren't a great team that year. Needed help to get to S.E.C. Championship game.

Not quite because wouldn't our games against Ole Miss and Bama count towards the conference record? You are right though in that we have a chance at challenging for the East.

We play Bama and Ole Miss out of the west.
UGA plays Arkansas and Auburn.

Therefore to have a legitimate shot we need to win all of our games in the East, and then beat at least one of our west opponents. UGA will probably lose to the Barn, yet if we won all of our SEC games, except Bama, we would still need the Dawgs to lose at least 1 other SEC game to take the East. @ Mizzou and @ Arkansas seem to be their two toughest tests (other than Auburn).

Totally agree with your optimism as I think pretty much every game, except Bama unfortunately, is very winnable. Although let's be real, we have to win next week to even start thinking about any of this.

Assuming we lose to Alabama, Georgia would have to lose twice since they would own the tie-breaker with us.

This isn't remotely close to the last SEC loss this team will have this season IMO so it's pointless to discuss it.

I'm a UGA fan, and UGA isn't winning anything with that QB and secondary. We will probably go 9-3 or 8-4.

Yeah, you guys have some trouble there. Yesterday's game was lost with a fumble in our own endzone. Even with Gurley having a career-high day, it came down to 3 points. He ran all over us, which we knew he would, but when your QB tried to keep our defense honest, he just threw picks. Either way, it was a great game to watch.

I told my Georgia fan brother-in-law this last night after he started running his mouth: UGA beat a Tennessee team playing 20+ TRUE freshmen, with a Heisman candidate running back who had a career-high day and it took a fumble in our own endzone and an injured QB to make the difference in the game. I would be more worried about UGA's team than I am my own.

Watched a recap show on ESPNU this morning and they are saying the SEC east champ will have 3 loses. I don't see three but two at this point looks very realistic. UGA still has UF, MIZZ, ARK and AUB these will not be easy, plus an improved UK that likes to throw the ball could present problems for them.

Wait.....

Georgia beat UT, but Missouri will beat Georgia? And with all that, you decided that UT would beat Missouri?

Perfect Logic.
