Maybe I have missed it somewhere reading all the articles, but has anyone else noticed that more HC's have told recruits not to visit UT this year?? I haven't seen it a lot in past years or maybe I have missed it. Either way, I like the fact that other coaches are scared.

It's pretty funny ain't it. "Puh puh puh please don't visit Tennessee! We aren't as good of coaches as they are and we're scared."

I know that McCarron said in a quote that Saban asked him not to visit Tennessee because "it wouldn't look right." (whatever the hell that means.)

What other coaches are doing this?

I understand it to a degree. If you have a guy committed and you are working against hard numbers, you hate to see a guy back out on you late in the game. But on the other side, if a guy is uncertain, you would like to think he could end up where he wants to be. I don't want a guy who would rather be somewhere else, no matter how good he is.

In Saban's case, I think if he felt secure about his commits, he would not care if they visited. Tells me he ain't that secure.

I do think everyone knows we have got back in the recruiting ring, something fierce.

Bammer:

"Although interesting note, Coach Saban asked A.J. not to take a visit to Tennessee and A.J. said "no problem." Now this is the first time I have ever heard of Nick asking ANYONE not to take a visit. Me thinks Tennessee may have brought out the infamous Coach Satan and will rue the day they crossed him."

The bottom line is that kids wake up wanting to go to Bama, no kid wakes up wanting to go to floppy top. They got thompson because they needed a good recruiter, they are gonna find out real quick they wasted their money and I am gonna enjoy watching it unfold...

I would be so embarassed to be a bama fan, seriously.

I watched Hightower and McClain play this year. They were superb players. What do they say about that??

If a coach ever told me not to visit somewhere I would tell him to go eff off. No fear of that ever happening though because I don't have a lick of atheletic ability. But I would say that though.

Personally, I don't think McCarron had any interest in Tennessee. He has been 100% Bama all along.

I have heard from numerous sites that Saban told all of his solid commits several weeks ago to use their official visits to recruit players to Alabama. I think this was the plan all along, but with Lance Thompson in Knoxville now, Saban called it off. He calls McCarron and tells him to visit anywhere but Tennessee.

It might be one of those internet conspiracy theories, but it makes sense.

If, you can't spell athletic. How do you expect to be athletic?...LOL However, I agree with your statement! :)

I agree Eric. Other coaches know they have a good chance of losing a recruit. If, they come see our facilities and talk with all of our great recruiters!

"Don't visit UT" ...and "some people" like to claim we are the ones "negative recruiting". Sheesh...

I think telling a kid not to visit a rival school is a bit self-serving and does not have the best interest of the kid at heart. Kiffin told Phillips to take his officials since it is something that he will only be able to do once-in-a-lifetime and make sure to enjoy the recruiting experience. Now gentlemen that is a coach who is confident in his recruit and wanting the best for him. I would tell any coach wanting me to forgoe any other chances at seeing what else is out there to kiss off. Even being 100% committed should not discourage a kid to take as many visits to other schools just to enjoy the time. SABAN IS A TOOL!!!!!!!! :fool:

Phillips said he is 90% UT now. I don't think that detours Kiffin and Co. though. I think they enjoy seeing what their commits says since they need to know what they are competing against. Kiffin telling him to visit other programs was the right thing to do.

It's an uncertain world we live in and nothing is guaranteed. Also, many of these kids don't have the means or opportunity to travel and 'see the world' so to speak. Any coach that would advise a kid to not take advantage of this process and enjoy it is only thinking of himself and not much of a man, much less a coach, in my book.

Recruits, take your visits. See a bit of the world. HAVE FUN. Life may not afford you another chance like this.
