How many more wins does this team need to be considered a lock for the tourney? I would say 19 wins would be good enough with our non conference resume. So I think going 9-7 (with at least one win in the conference tourney) or 10-6 in regular season conference play will get this team a 7 or 8 seed.

Thoughts?

@20 we are in.

edit: we need to aim for 20 (or better) for a decent pick

making the tourney isn't gonna be a problem, but a potential 8th or 9th seed would be horrible given the possible 1 seeds, let alone the 9s

We might be able to get in with a 8-8 recod in the SEC & a win in the SEC tourney.

At this point, I really think the best this team can do is a 5 seed. If, somehow, we can win the conference and advance deep into the conference tournament a 4 seed is possible.

Unless UK falls on its face, that is not going to happen.

I dont consider UK a lock, but I dont think that UT is a team that can bank it all on winning the tourney....

that would put an interesting perspective on this season as a whole in March though

I have to admit though that after looking at the rest of the schedule, I'm seeing somewhere around 17-18 wins going into SEC tourney....they can't really afford to lose any more close games like they have been

I don't think Meeks will do that to us again, but unless something magical happens UK will destroy us in Rupp.

Probably, but I just meant that I dont consider UK in anyway to be a lock to win the SEC tourney, especially at this point in the SEC

I'm sure they'll be the favorite to win, but i just dont think they're a lock to win the SEC tourney this season

Meeks won't have to do it again. UT hardly ever plays very well in Rupp anyway. I'd be ultra shocked if we win up there.

I say we need 8 more wins to get in. 20 wins will do it plus Pearl has built up enough of a rep for UT to get in on that somewhat.

My bad, I thought you meant the next UT vs UK game as a toss-up.

I think we can go 8-4 the rest of the way. I do not think we win at Florida, at Kentucky, at Arkansas, but all the other games are winnable. I think if we get 19 wins we will be in with our victories over Marquette and Georgetown. It would be nice to avoid the bubble and win about 21 or 22 depending on how far we advance in the conference tournament.

If they can't win at Arkansas, they're going to have a tough time winning any road game.

Arkansas is really tough at home. Remember they have beaten two top ten teams there in Texas and Oklahoma. Right now they are playing pretty crappy though.

Yeah, getting hammered at home by Mississippi State and Auburn just screams "tough."

I hope you are right and we kick their butt at home. If our team goes in there with the same mindset you have about Razorback home court basketball we will definitely lose. We cannot take them lightly because we don't know what team will show up. They are young too.
