Not a new topic by any means, but for those who have never noticed the correlation, The last six times the Wildcats won the title, the Yankees won the World Series. 1949. 1951. 1958. 1978. 1996. 1998.

This is my one bright spot tonight, to hell with the Yankees.

I really don't care since I wrote off MLB for their last strike, but I was a big Yankees fan in the 60's because of Mantle, Maris, Ford, Berra and all of those Yankees. Of course I was a youngster back then and Steinbrenner bought the team and I was off the bandwagon.

First and foremost I'm a Reds fan, then I like the BoSox as well. I've always liked Boston sports teams, and as they were the NYY nemesis I adopted them.

However, I think its rediculous that the MLB cannot conform to a salary cap like the rest of the pro leagues. Watching NYY, Boston and LA buy whoever they want just gets old sometimes.

Why the hate for Steinbrenner? Of all owners in sports, I would say that he is the most avid fan of his own team. Many years, the Yankee's post a net operating loss, while Boston posts operating gains (as do the Royals, which, IMO is f***ed up). Steinbrenner does what it takes to win.

*Revenue, instead of hurting the Yankees, actually helps them.

I just noticed our two consensus national titles have come in two of the years you listed.

Damn UK for screwing Tennessee football last night.

I tend to agree with you on the salary cap issue but in the first decade of 2000 there were 10 different World Series champions. No other major sports league can say that.
