At this point, would you consider 5-7 a solid season?

If we finish the season 5-7, would you consider it a solid, respectable season?

Simple question: If we finish the season at 5-7, would you consider it a respectable, solid season?

Just curious what folks' standards are...

5-7 isn't awful for his first year.

Then again it's painful to know the Vols were close to getting a couple more of those wins.

Absolutely not. 6-6 is the goal. If he comes up before that, it's a failure of a season. There's no reason little brother and our whippin' boy up north should come close to beating us, especially with little brother coming to our house.

no way on earth. Consider how weak Florida was, the UGA game, and that would mean losing to Vandy or UK. No way 5-7 would be solid when you take everything into account.

I would not have been disappointed if given 5-7 at the beginning of the season. Before the season began, 5-7 was pretty much what it looked like to me. We have not lost to a single team to date that I thought we should beat.

To get to 6-6 or better, I figured we'd have to run into one or two. We have already done that with SC. We've won a game that was perhaps "stolen." So at this point we have to get to 6-6.

Stealing one doesn't give the right to get one stolen from us. It takes that to go to 5-7. We should beat KU, and we should beat Vandy at home. That's 6-6.

If we beat AU, I'd call that stealing another. Stealing two in a year is a big deal.

No. Overrated or not, our O Line is good. We have enough talent that we should at least be .500 before a bowl game with two of the last three at home.

I'd call 5-7 performing to expectations based on where the program has been, difficulty of our schedule, etc... but I'd hope that if Butch is the coach/motivator we hope he is that he'd exceed expectations in year one.

Addendum: Interesting that the only "Yes" is a UK fan.

5-7 for the 3rd straight year would be unacceptable. And CBJ would be damn lucky if he didn't lose a couple of these recruits wth that record.

The goal was to make the post season, get bowl eligible. I'm not going to say this year was a failure if we don't reach 6 wins but it would be very disappointing considering the cathartic victory over USC. That all being said, we get Vandy at home and the older guys will remember last year and be highly motivated for that game and Kentucky is Kentucky, we should be able to string together a good game to close out a 6-6 campaign.

No. Because that would more than likely mean we lost to Vanderbilt or Kentucky. That's unacceptable, even in our current state.

A 5 and 7 season is not even mediocre! We have to win two of the next three games.......just to be mediocre and get a bowl game.

i voted no.on the other hand i said all along that this team would win between 5 to 7 games this year depending on how many breaks went their way.it seems like we got alot of breaks against uf but we turned it over too many times to win that game.then against uga we had a great shot and came up just a little short.

Define solid. This question is a little premature don't you think? Was it asked to ease your issues and pain? Read the board you will find extremes....we are in some cases lucky to have 4 wins and in other cases we should only have 2 losses.

Don't make the mistake that many posters and football players did? Which was to take the last 4 games for granted. Did not work out to well. What if they go 0-3 versus 1-2. Or 2-1 or 3-0. One game at a time.

Edit: did not realize who the OP poster was until I posted. When I did realize it, I Laughed. I think the Op just likes to keep the pot stirred on this board.
