he's more than an "AD". They don't technically have an athletics dept

Tom Jurich is the surprising one. He's raised a lot of money for the school, but it hasn't translated to much on the field.

Vanderbilt: Williams is vice chancellor for university affairs and athletics; general counsel and university secretary for school and its medical center; tenured law professor

Explains some of the Vanderbilt number...

When you look at the financial responsibility they have, the number isn't quite as large.

Not $2.5 million, or even $1 million, in my opinion.

And we wonder why college tuition is so ridiculously expensive today.

Considering Vanderbilt is a private institution, and the fact that their endowment is more than $2b more than the next SEC school, who only has an endowment of $1.1b, I'd say it makes sense. Vanderbilt has quite a bit more money than any other SEC school believe it or not.

OP didn't do their homework.

The guy at Vandy wears about 4 hats in addition to the AD role.

Yep, and you wouldn't know it looking at the Ath. Dept. from top to bottom.

Not to mention, Vandy is quite successful in other sports. They just collect the football check and win in other sports.

There's at least two other schools in the state of TN alone that have a higher endowment then all the other SEC schools (minus Vandy of course)

All because of this one guy? He must be a miracle worker.
