Butch Jones is no Derek Dooley — and as a result, the Volunteers will make a bowl game this year.

To make a bowl game in this day and age you need to go 6-6:

APSU
WKU
S. Alabama
Missouri
UK
Vandy
Auburn
Missouri

Can UT go 6-2 against these 8 teams? I think so.

6 and 2 sounds about right for those 8 games and call me crazy but I think we've got a chance against UGA and SC since they're at home.

6-2 for sure and I wouldn't be surprised to see us go 8-0 in those games.

I don't know, it's tough to beat a team twice in the same year.

Missouri - South Carolina?

Auburn is the only one that worries me, aside from the near certain defeat against South Carolina. They have the stars to hang with bama, just didn't have the coaching last year. If they have the coaching this year, they could surprise some people. Same could be said of us, maybe?

Auburn's classes, per rivals:
2009 - #19
2010 - #4
2011 - #6
2012 - #10
2013 - #8

Haha...

Which means we would actually have to win 6 against these 8 teams:

APSU
WKU
S. Alabama
Missouri
UK
Vandy
Auburn
SCar (some people might say we have a better shot against Oregon or UGA)

Absolutely. Still think UGA will be too much but SC could be a heck of a game. I'm not counting that one as an L just yet.

Why are we playing Missouri twice this season? Is it a home and an away series???

Is it a double header, like in baseball, where we play both games on the same day?

No!!!! I see us at 5 - 7 this season.

In 2014, with a new offensive line, a new defensive line and new linebackers, I see us missing a bowl game again.

However; in 2015, I see us in a New Years Day bowl game, somewhere in Florida.... Orlando, Tampa, etc.

You seriously aren't fun to play this game with.

I believe the overall success (W/L record) of this team will be determined by 3 games. UT will most likely have to win 2 out of 3 of these games to make it to a post season game:

8/31 Austin Peay
9/7 W. Kentucky
9/14 @Oregon
9/21 @Florida
9/28 S. Alabama
10/5 Georgia
10/19 S. Carolina
10/26 @Alabama
11/2 @Missouri
11/9 Auburn
11/23 Vanderbilt

11/30 @Kentucky

I can't decide if having all 3 of the games in a row at the end of the season benefits us or not.

I would rather play them earlier in the season. We will be beat up after October

7-5 is our safest best finish for this year and considering that we a completely new offense that's being implemented, that would not be a bad finish at all. Here's how I see it as far as ours wins go.

AP - W
WKU - W
Oregon - Toss up(I think this could be a close game)
Florida - L
SouthAL - W
Georgia - Toss up
Bama - L
USCE - Toss up
Mizzou - W
Vandy - W
Auburn - W
UK - W

7-5, with the possibility of 8-4 if we steal a win out of the toss up games I listed. With coach Jones, I think we will finish it if well positioned to win the game.

I think this has been said over and over the last few years! I hope we finally "get over the hump".
