Okay, so I had heard about the 1997 NLCS Livan Hernandez game, but never seen the strikeouts...

there's no doubt the ump made a bet on the game.

The last strikeout of Fred McGriff to end the game is one of the 5 worst calls I've ever seen in any sport. The catcher literally caught the ball behind the right handed batter's box a foot off the plate.

If I could get that day back along with the few seconds it took Lonnie Smith to get decoyed in the 91 WS and Javy Lopez to signal slider to Mark Wohlers in the 96 WS, the 90s would have been a lot more fun.

It was painfully surreal. It was obvious that Eric Gregg was thinking about cheeseburgers or hookers or eating cheeseburgers off of hookers or eating hookers.

I suppose it was all karma for the amount of pain the Braves bestowed upon the Pirates during the 90s.

Just wish they would have kept the old school crazy screaming Indian logo on the sleeve

There's a reason why not, and I understand that.

I wish they would wear their early 70's blue and white jerseys more because that's the best hat in baseball.

I understand it to a certain degree, still part of the braves history.. I personally don't think it is offensive but then again I am not a native American. I just think it is a cool retro logo

So here we are 3 weeks out from Spring Training and the big news is Buddy Carlyle and Peter Moylan being brought back and off white unis. Not exactly what I expected.

True, but if Heyward comes out raking and Uggla produces for a full season with a healthy McCann, Jurrrjens, Hansen we are gonna be much improved.. That and Lowe is gone, Teheran is future number one and sooner rather than later. We win 95 games this year at least

Hell we won 89 last year after a monumental collapse, we could have hit 95 last year if it wasn't for injuries, and Freddi's inability to manage a bullpen.. which will be better this year.

We have the best pitching and depth top to bottom in the majors.. Pitching wins games. All I am saying is if we remain healthy 95 is very do-able with our talent.. esp. the pitching

95 games is nearly +30. I cannot see this team 28 games over in the East as things stand presently. The offense is just not there.

Yes, that does sound crazy.

Nationals racked us last year when they weren't beating anyone else.. even Chipper admitted that.

Maybe we pay them more attention and give them more respect since they are a better team than in previous years when we overlooked them..

It is not that crazy when you think about it. Kind of play to the level of your competition thing.

Nah, I know. I get what you meant, was just ragging on you. We snuck up on the phillies late in the year, too.

The saving grace for the braves is the starting pitcher depth. That can cure a lot of ills. Hayward/freeman could produce even more, bourn for a whole year... and stuff you've already noted. I worry about kimbrel or venters' arm falling off, but good god this will be a competitive division.

It isn't the nationals year to need to do it, so huge progress is just gravy for us.

I agree, maybe Greg walker will work some miracles this year.. but we will have Bourn for a full season, which is big time. Won't have to worry about Gonzo flailing at every outside breaking pitch in the dirt.. which will be nice. Hopefully Pastornicky can hold his own and get on base..

Heyward is going to bounce back.. I am confident of that, same for Prado.

95 is a stretch, but I'll stick with it
