I believe the times.. But he's only got this year to hit or not before mccanns a fa. I think the braves would like more time to evaluate his offense. Gonna be a gamble either way.
Edit: Nvm. Pretty sure we have an option on McCann for next year as well. Two years should be plenty..
Yup. Got him for two.
I love Mac. I really do. But I want the Braves to make the right decision for the organization. If that is letting Mac go and making Bethancourt the catcher, then I understand that.
Now, I swear, it better not be because of penny pinching however.
If there's a stupider move for a budget-constrained team to make than overpaying to keep a 30-year-old catcher when there's a promising young one in the wings, I don't know what it is.
Nothing against McCann, whom I really like. But that's a dangerous situation for any team that has to care about its payroll.
I agree. I mean, let's say that Mac wants $15M per and the Braves will only stay on $12M per, that's more what I was talking about.
It just depends on how bad Mac wants to be in Atlanta to be honest. I think 3/40M, with a option for a 4th year would be a good deal for both sides.
Eventually though, Mac is going to have to move. Maybe 3rd if he dropped 20 lbs? Possible.
No way he settles for a deal that short.I agree. I mean, let's say that Mac wants $15M per and the Braves will only stay on $12M per, that's more what I was talking about.

Really not much else we can do you know? The days of a Chipper type lifer are over unfortunately.
