In 2002 Eric Hinske hit .279, 24 HRs, .365 OBP 84 RBI's, 38 doubles and scored 99 runs while winning the ROY.
Now he is a bench player.
I never said OBP was "a BS measuring tool" that one is legit.
Also, I never said I was giving up on Heyward. I said I do not think he will ever be able to live up to all the hype and expectations.. albeit I did say it in a roundabout way. People were enshrining him in Cooperstown one week into his pro debut.
For the record I think he will develop into a solid pro, but I am afraid he isn't going to be the cornerstone RF for the next 15 years. which is a bummer because I am a big J Hey fan.. I was a big Frenchy fan too. Like Verc said perhaps he was rushed to the show too soon, the pitchers made adjustments and he is still pull happy and rolling over on pitches.
1. How the hell can anybody have to go on the DL for a bruise?
2. If it's that bad, how the hell can
it take most of a week to figure it out so that the team is playing shorthanded the whole time?
3. Why the hell would you call up a catcher? If Ross is iffy, DL him too; he's just the backup catcher. How can you carry 3 catchers in the regular season? What the hell is going on?

Hmmm
The Ross injury put them in a major pickle and Chipper is the logical guy to get DL'd even though he probably only needs a few more days.
I don't get what is so perplexing here. Ross needs a few days and McCann is still sick and can't play everyday so you call up a third catcher for a couple of weeks. In the end, the extra week off probably helps Chipper anyway.
