I don't know how established Belmont's chances are of making the tournament, however right now they're trailing FGCU 42-34, under 2 minutes left in the first

Belmont won't make it unless they win this. Assuming they come back and win (they will), they'll be a low 13/high 14 seed. Dangerous team against high-end opponents, especially when they're hot from deep.

I've seen both these teams live in the past week. They're both apt to heat up from 3 out of the blue.

Belmont takes the lead for the first time in quite a while. Here comes the beatdown.

Go to FGCU and our boys played well this week. Hired Andy Enfield this year that will really turn us around, starting 3 true freshman this year. Excited to be an eagle! Can't wait for next year.

The ASun is going to be wide open next year without Belmont around.

Yep. Belmont has run the conference for years

I found it to be extremely classless to hear the Belmont fans chanting OVC at the end of the game. The Asun is a very bad basketball league but they gave Belmont a conference home when they turned D1 and some gratitude should have been shown.

The ASun let the closer geographic teams leave (Samford, Jacksonville St). Belmont has been frustrated for a while.

I am sure the relationship wasn't perfect but for the fans to act that classless was uncalled for. The Asun took Belmont as a member when no other conference would even consider them and some gratitude for that should have been shown.

The ASun has been a temporary stopping point for all but a few teams for more than a decade now. They didn't do Belmont a favor. They knew that Belmont would leave if given a better opportunity.

When Belmont joined in '01, there were ten other teams in the conference. Only three of those ten members are still in the conference 11 years later.

So the Belmont people rubbing it in the Asun's nose by chanting OVC was warranted in your opinion?

It's sports. This kind of stuff happens all the time. Are you saying A&M and Mizzou fans were disrespectful to the Big 12 by chanting "SEC"? The ASun has made some really questionable decisions lately, and Belmont wasn't happy about them. Maybe it wasn't polite, but that's life. If the ASun has a problem with it, maybe the higher-ups should ask themselves why they might be facing such massive attrition.

I think a lot of it is just the nature of the schools in a conference like the A-Sun. It's a place for schools dipping their toe in D1 water for the first time.

As for the chant, yes, it was classless. I was at the tournament on and off and the Belmont people were acting like UK fans. It was kind of comical.
