Attention potential UT Quarterbacks

Just another selling point for UT and Jim Chaney. It would have been nice for Peyton to win, but JC actually COACHED Drew Brees.

Had more to do with Indy not having a pass rush. Brees is a good qb but not so sure he wouldnt have been good no matter who coached him. Just like I think David Cucliffe gets way too much credit for the manning boys success.

People with all the talent in the world can end up not achieving their potential without good coaching. There's no doubt that Drew got that when Chaney was at Purdue, and watching Crompton last year just further solidified that resume.

It's up to the quarterback to work hard consistently and rely on his given talent as well, but there's no arguing that Chaney at least knows *how* to coach.

mannnings are prototype nfl qb's with a pedigree to match - brees isnt. big difference. besides, who cares about facts? Peyton is still Peyton and UT will claim him, now we can claim the super bowl champ/mvp was coached by our OC! sweet

Thats fine and dandy boys but special players will be special no matter who coached them. John Elway was at Stanford and Brett Favre at Southern miss, Ben Roethliberger university of Miami of OHIO!

But if you don't set up a good throwing motion as T.Tebow @ fla. you might set them up to fail. i guess all these great players are born to play. So much for coach them up. Wonder why they make so much money?????

Watching the Saints win made me feel like Obama just got re-elected....I can't explain it....you'll just have to think about that one.

there are a ton of "special" quarterbacks that never made a career in the NFL, that would probably disagree with your logic.

I don't know that I totally agree with this. Elway was very much under the influence of the Bill Walsh coaching tree... Brett Farve played for Jeff Bower, who had a habit of beating ranked opponents and getting the most out of his players(14 straight winning seasons at Southern Miss).... And Ben Roethlisberger played at a school that does nothing but produce great coaches (If you don't believe me, look up the coaches to come from Miami, OH ie. "the coaches cradle"). I agree that great players will be great anyway. But at some point, whether it was in college or not, great players have to learn from somebody.

It also proves you don't have to be 6'5" to be an SEC QB. Brees just won a SB at 6'0".

Keep in mind CDD coached Addai in college as well... though his performance couldn't even come close to Brees.

Brees probably played the best Super Bowl any QB has had perhaps in NFL history.

He played great, but that's going a bit too far...

Joe Montana, 49ers, Super Bowl XXIV (1990)
Stats: 22-29, 297 yards, 5 TD, 0 interceptions in a 55-10 win over Broncos.

Steve Young, 49ers, Super Bowl XXIX (1995)
Stats: 24-36, 325 yards, 6 TD, 0 interceptions in 49-26 win over Chargers.

Blasphemy...everyone knows Lane Kiffin was responsible for Crompton's turnaround and we don't stand a chance with Dooley.

Alright, you've got me there.

One of the best if a definite.

What a great recruiting tool to future elite qb prospects....come to UT where Peyton Manning played and where Jim Chaney former qb's coach at purdue who coached Drew Brees currently coaches!!!

Chaney proved to be a good recruiter this NSD and this SB MVP QB can only help. The future looks bright on Rocky Top.
