Does anyone else feel like puking when you have to read about this match-up?

Excuse me if I don't shed a tear about the "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry"! Of course, it's not the Auburn part that bothers me...it's because of the stupid Dawgs.

Here in Chattanooga, we get as much UGA coverage in our "newspaper" as we do for UT. Maybe this makes me over sensitive. UGA-AU is not a great national rivalry. It's rarely affected the national scene of college football. Both teams have had their great streaks but they've never seemed to coincide. Great rivalries are Tennessee-Alabama, Auburn-Alabama and, for the pure spectacle alone, Florida-Georgia. But who outside of those schools cared about the that rivalry before 1990 (when Florida football actually began..contrary to popular belief down in humidity-land)? I[ll even give you Ole Miss and Miss State!

I just needed to get this off my chest. I'd be interested in others' thoughts and opinions.

And ,I don't get a thrill out of this but War Eagle!

I think its because it actually is the oldest rivalry in the southeast.

I usually skip the Georgia page when I read the Chattanooga sports page. ;)

It's also bad having to listen to Dr.B on the local sportstalk radio show flip-flop after every game.

This is what I mean (from the Athens-Banner Herald)...

Old rivals rarely clash as top 10s

Rarely, however, have Georgia and Auburn collided as top 10 teams.

When the eighth-ranked Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1 SEC) play No. 3 Auburn (9-0, 6-0) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium, it will be just the third top-10 clash in the oldest continual rivalry in the Deep South and the first since 1983.

The Bulldogs haven't beaten a top five-ranked team since toppling No. 1 Florida, 24-3, on Nov. 9, 1985. They are 0-7-1 against top five teams since then (including a 23-23 tie with Auburn in 1994). Only one of those losses has come under Richt, 34-13 to then-No. 3 LSU last season in the SEC Championship game.

This makes me hate the Dawgs that much more. Posers.

It'll be interesting to see if Campbell can keep it going against a good defense that will pressure him. I don't know if he's heard or not, but Pollack's motor never stops running . . .

I just don't see GA beating AU.

The way this game is, anything can happen. The home team doesn't usually fare too well in this series.

Man, Pollack's motor never stops running!

Know what? That David Pollack has a motor that never stops running!

:dlol: :dlol:

As opposed to all the guys that stop their motors and take a nap on the field? Gotta love the media.

Actually, Grasshopper, every motor must one day come to an end.

I'm from Chatt but now live in "humidity-land" and I'm really looking forward to this match-up! Two good SEC football teams colliding, good fun, but this match-up doesn't compare to many SEC match-ups.

WAR EAGLE!

:puke:

I love sports talk radio, but I think it's laughable how much they change week to week.

The "power rankings" change soooo much. First it was the Pats going to the super bowl, then Eagles and now the Steelers.

I remember early on everyone was calling for Warner's head, people were taking bets when Eli would take over. Then, one good week for Warner and he's great and the "answer". Now, flip-flop, once again he is the problem and there is Eli talk. :dunno:

hey chattvol I am orig from right outside of chattanooga tn and I also cannot stand the news coverage up there. Most of the dawg fans where flying UT flags in 98.

Good point, SurfingVol. Before those people were flying the UT '98 NC flag, they were big Tide "fans" in the 80's and early 90's. I don't want 'em. The Dawgs can have em. They'll be off the UGA bandwagon at the first sign of trouble. Who's next? Maybe they'll be Gamecock fans if "the Visor" ends up there?

ChattVol, I am from Chattanooga also..All that Ga crap makes me sick too.
They just have a more experienced writer, Paschall, than UT does on the timesfree press staff..

There are several Chattanooga folks in here, maybe that's why I like in here so much. :D

Question? Do you guys remember if Terrell Owens was a loud mouth as a Moc? I was too young to remember, just curious.

No... because the Mocs sucked (and still do)... and they were the only school to offer him a scholarship. He was probably just glad to be playing somewhere.... then once he got to be a star in the NFL... is when he's gotten loud. If he was a marginal receiver just trying to hang onto his NFL job, he would probably be just as quite as he was at UTC. :dunno:

One of my friends played with him at UTC and he said that Terrell was very quite... almost shy... and kept to himself mostly while he was at UTC.

Go to the link below and make sure to vote against Hairy Dawg (UGA). Smokey isn't a contestant this year but that's beside the point. Anyone but Hairy Dawg!

What a crappy collection of mascots! Even the names are generic: "The Bird, Big Red" . . . . oh, sure, I voted against UGA but where the hell is James Madison and why does it have a bulldog? Doesn't sound like a "bulldog" sort of school.
