I happen to be a Vol fan that graduated from Auburn University. Chizik is a former DC from Auburn as well. He was there when Petrino was Auburn's OC. He has ties to the school through past DC experience.

And people here think they were mad about the Kiffin hire.

They may burn down Jordan-Hare over this one.... Can't say I blame them.

Apparently he is cleaning house as well. If i was an Auburn fan i would be livid. luckily i get 5 more months to decide if i will be or not

Thank goodness no one has said,"why not Turner Gill."

I wanted Turner Gill at UT, but he would have been perfect at Auburn.

Can you imagine the recruiting base he would have?

I don't like 106.7 the fan in Nashville as much as 104.5 the zone, but they said , paraphrasing here........"draw a circle around Univ of Alabama. You get UT, SC, Clemson, GA, UF, FSU, Auburn, Bama, and Ga Tech. That is the Heart of Dixie. The same ole "white boy" network since the 1860's. Can you imagine the impact an african-american coach would have at ANY of those schools? UT and Auburn had a chance to do something great (not for social reasons only)....but to be the NATIONAL story! Kids from all over the country would have knocked the door down to come there."

Croom was great for minorities at MSU....but MSU does not have the National claim that the others have. UT and AU dropped the ball on this non-hire.

Auburn is dumber that UT. Ut at least got a coach (or staff) that has notches on the bed post, what did Auburn get.......?

i just got done watching his press conference. He seemed VERY happy to be back and i dont believe i heard Iowa State mentioned once. Even the president didnt show. obviously shows how much faith he has
