Audit: Brett Favre was paid $1.1M in Mississippi welfare funds for appearances he didn't make

Ehh. I'd have to see more about it. 1.1m of close to 100m, while substantial, is still a drop in the barrel. Was he contracted to show up and had an out where he still got paid in case he couldn't show up? Did he show up to dozens of other things and miss 2 things and that makes this a story? Should he have ever been getting money from this department? I just feel like there's a lot missing and this was only written because his name was attached. I also like how they threw in the DiBiases at the end there.

Butch Jones got paid more than that for not coaching. For that matter, he got paid more than that when he was supposed to be coaching and wasn't, such as practice and games.

If/when this gets investigated properly, Mr. Copper Fit Advanced Back Pro could see felon charges and jail time.
You are entitled to your own opinion of course, but I would be interested to see what makes you think that.
I have not read or seen anything that would come close to Felony charges or jail time. At the very outside it might be a civil matter of contractual breach for failing to appear. If he had applied for a $1.1M grant by falsifying information, or saying he was using it to help the kids in his foundation or they could prove that he had no intention of honoring what he entered into maybe some criminal charges but highly unlikely from what I've seen.

I agree that if Favre thought he did nothing wrong, then why is he in the process of repaying that money? Also, even if he does repay all of the money, that doesn't clear him of embezzlement/fraud allegations. There are no excuses, circumstances, reasons, or logic that makes this right.

Repaying the money, paying fines along the lines of 5 or 6 times what he stole and some serious prison time are all warranted, justified and would be exactly what would happen without corruption.

Whether his agent had complicity in this or not, he should be ashamed. Taking over a million $$$ for appearances he never bothered to attend is one thing. To take that money from an organization working for the poor is even worse. For some people, there is just never enough money in their accounts. No respect for Favre. None.

His Tweets are word salad.

He says he did ads for Families First, but the language the state provided says he was contracted for appearances, and autographs and speaking engagements are in-person appearances.
