Believe it or not, I have never seen the Vols play an away game. Yep, always Neyland Stadium

I'm thinking that either this year or next, gonna take a road trip and see them away from home.

Where do you all think is the best place in the SEC to see them play, talking about stadium atmosphere, treatment by the home fans, places to eat, hotels, the whole ball of wax?

Some people are going to think that I am nuts for saying this, but Alabama is a great place to go. When I was there, the fans were giving me food and drinks until I couldn't eat or drink anymore. The campus is beautiful and the rivalry thing doesn't hurt either. My first game there was when we beat them 21 - 7 in their new stadium. It was a blast.

The only stadiums I have not been to (including teams that play at two diff. stadiums) are the tigers, both au and lsu. Almost forgot, ole miss sold their games out to the liberty bowl, so haven't been there yet even though it is the closest to me.

Stadium atmosphere- Florida, unfortunately. Remember 1995 when we took the lead right before halftime? Mr Sparks turned the band to face the the student section (directly behind us-thanks Foley ya jerk!) and played Rocky Top. Luckily, playing trombone, we were shilded by the tuba bells from being smacked by all the Gatorade bottles.

Treatment by the home fans- Arkansas. Walking around in our pep band uniforms every one treated us well. Even when there were no seats on the UC to sit, some Arky fans got up to let us sit.

Places to eat- alabama(Birm.) and uga(atlanta) Hard to beat Dreamland BBQ in Birm.

Hotels- Stayed with the band so never really worried about it. Favorite was Downtown Atlanta, tho

Whole ball of wax- Nothing beats Knoxville, but if I choose a second uga had some really cool things to do in athens and atlanta.

Least favorite for everything- miss st. Everything about starkville sucks. How they get anyone to play there is beyond me.

LSU and Ole Miss in the SEC. BTW if you have the opportunityto go to South Bend this fall, do it. I promise you, ND haters may have a difficult time hating the Irish again!

The wife and I would love to go to ND game. What's the best way to go about getting tickets w/o breaking the bank? :dunno:

Though many will disagree.

3 times I have never had anything bad happen to me in Athens, GA

LSU I couldn't stand with the abuse.

The people in Athens and in Columbia are always pretty nice and both stadiums are good to watch a game in. Ole Miss is a great place to go tailgate in the Grove.

My best and worst: (both while a student)

Had a great trip to Athens. We rented an RV in Knoxville, drove down to Athens and parked right in an empty lot downtown. By 6am the next morning, we were the only UT RV in the whole lot, surrounded by UGA fans. That day of tailgating was unreal! The UGA fans were drinking w/ us and they even fed us. However, after the game when we returned victorious to the RV, we were yet again the only ones in the lot.

As for Fla., the attitude is just so negative with their fans. You know how Bama or UGA fans can take jokes and shoot them right back? Well UF fans can't take it. I think their lack of class comes from being so bad for so long. The other programs know how to act. We got bottles and cans thrown at us, and most were full! Except for hanging out w/ my friends, it was a wasted trip!

Florida is not the road trip to go on if you have a choice. I'm not real big on going to Auburn either. Auburn, Alabama is Starkville, Mississippi just with a larger stadium.
