Matt Polk is one of the top pass-catchers out West in the 2020 class and he put on a very good display earlier this month at the adidas 7v7 West regional at El Camino College. The three-star prospect from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro is on the cusp of getting a boost to his rating and the potential he showed as a junior last fall is a major reason why. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver stretches the field, has decent speed to create separation and his length gives defensive backs a lot of issues on the perimeter where he can box out for the football. Polk has a reliable set of hands and is smooth through his routes and appears primed for an even bigger spring evaluation period as one of the best offensive prospects in the Grand Canyon State.
On the recruiting front, Polk recently took an unofficial visit to UCLA after picking up an offer from the Bruins and told 247Sports he plans to get out to a few more programs in the coming months. "I got UCLA recently and that was pretty big for me," Polk said. "UCLA is just that school that everyone dreams about going to because of the location and weather and combination of football and academics. I didn't expect it to be as nice as it was. The visit was great for me and I really liked how the campus blended with Westwood. I liked how they worked and the tempo they practice with. They didn't waste any time. I'm talking most with coach
Paul Rhoads but I've also been in contact with coach
Jimmie Dougherty.
"I'm going to The Opening up in Oakland in May and will make sure to stop by Cal since I got that offer. I went back for their junior day and really liked it there. I like Oklahoma State a lot as well and it has felt like home when I've been out there. I like the coaches and the offense is obviously built for receivers. I hit up Arizona recently as well for their junior day and I have been in contact a lot with coach
Taylor Mazzone. That trip was fun and I've been there about three or four times so I have felt comfortable down there. I also want to get out to Florida and Tennessee since I haven't been able to since they offered. I'm not in a rush to make a commitment but I think I'll do it when I have a feel and just know where I want to be."
