Azzanni hoping UT Vols' receivers build off 'big-time' performance

I hope so! I know many here have praised Azzanni but frankly, up until last Saturday I have been extremely disappointed in our WR's this year. Yes I know they're young. Yes I know Worely hasn't exactly set the world on fire as a QB. However we are 6 weeks into the season! This $hit should be clicking for these guys by now! I was starting to ask myself if Azzanni was really all that good or if we had just recruited a bunch of "lemons."

Hope they make some big plays against S. Carolina, would love to see Spurrier's face after a loss to the Vols

Calling that a "big-time" performance only shows how low the bar got for our passing game. It was a competent performance, a decent performance. North made a great catch, but our passing game isn't close to "big time."

You sound like Dooley with the negative talk. What's azzani supposed to say? "Oh, it was a mediocre performance, were not a very good wr corp." You instill confidence in your players by speaking confidently. Something Dooley never did and it seems like he's rubbed off on the fan base quite a bit.

And for the record, compared to our previous passing performances this year, the Georgia game was big time.

Not sure why it bugs me when you say "our" in reference to the Tennessee football team.

Give it up with the whole Dooley thing, will you?

To your own quote, "And for the record, compared to our previous passing performances this year, the Georgia game was big time." That doesn't mean it was impressive or big time.

Yes, they improved in the 2nd half of the UGA game. That doesn't mean the tallest midget impresses NBA scouts.

Very true. But I do see that the coach is probably just giving the guys a little bit of encouragement for their play in the 2nd half.

They probably haven't gotten a word of praise from this staff publicly/privately and rightfully so. They've played subpar against weak opponents (exclude Oregon and UF).

Good to see coach tipping his hat a little to his guys. You can only hear you need to get better so much ya know...

You were ready to declare a bunch of freshman lemons after their sixth collegiate game? Jesus.

I realize that many of them are freshman but I was hoping at least ONE of them would play at a "phenom" level, which has not been the case at all. It's been a grueling, slow going series of growing pains. I just thought one of them would be talented enough to show out, despite being a freshman. Besides that...

Pig Howard is a sophomore

Devrin Young is a Junior (I know he's hurt but he did play in the first few games).

Vincent Dallas is a Junior

Jacob Carter is a red shirt junior

Jason Croom is a redshirt freshmen but he's also a physical freak who should dominate defend and I cannot understand why we're not getting him the ball more!

Marquez North is a true freshmen but...(See Croom)
