B.J. Coleman..

Simms is just very well-traveled. He got fired from his first job.(incriminating pictures from an office party) He took his 2nd job simply to keep putting food on the table. After Papa Phil saw that his "special" son had gotten his shtuff together, he used his influence to get him a better-paying gig.

What's SO hard to understand? :)

I am not sure I see the difference. If a player leaves one program like USC or Louisville to come to TN to play then we call them gold, but if a player quites TN to go to another school then your called trash! Whats the difference? A quitter is a quitter right!

Jon crompton is a winner.....and bj coleman is a quitter..what do you know about jon crompton? You do realize that jon crompton was the most arrogant ahole on our football team before he got to play right. Did you know that he complained to the coaches and teammates that he should be starting ahead of ainge? but then when he got into the game and started playing like the qb in the country guess what he did? he quit. He became the most fragile mentally weak football player on the team. Bj coleman on the other hand. Outplayed crompton in the spring easily. But the young reject kiffin still didnt want to give him a legit shot. So instead of sitting on lane kiffins bench for 3 yrs he decided to go play football somewhere he was wanted. But im sure that the haters will just want to talk about me personally and not the facts

He had to drop all the way to the level of a 1-AA bottomfeeder to find a place he could play. I'd like to see you explain why Cutcliffe didn't recruit him to Duke.

He could have transferred plenty of places and sat out. He wanted to play immediately and his hometown was the obvious choice. Not that any of it matters because he outplayed every qb on our team in the spring. And yet the worst qb in tennessee history was given the benefit of the doubt. I wonder who would have started if coleman was a senior and crompton was a soph

Just out of curiosity, can someone tell me when JC was named starter?

(Actually, it was approximately August 25 as referenced here - Jonathon Crompton named Tennessee Volunteers starter at quarterback - ESPN)

If I recall correctly coming out of spring no starter was named and it was still an open competition. BJ got mad, went into Kiffin's office, demanded to be the starter, and when he wasn't he quit.

If I also recall correctly I remember hearing quite a few rumbling around Knoxville that BJ was becoming a locker room cancer because he was trying to divide the team into guys who wanted him to be QB and guys that didn't.

And then there was the infamous radio interview......

Can someone that has a clue please correct anything that I've not gotten correct?

Don't act like the decision was made in the Spring. Fact was that Coleman didn't want to compete in Summer practice without a guarantee. Giving Crompton the job turned out to be a pretty good decision . . . and I can name a lot of worse QBs in the past 10-20 years.

That pretty much covers it.

I thought so.

And obviously our friend doesn't remember one Joey Matthews if he thinks JC is the worst QB in UT history.
. . . or Sterling Hinton or Steve Alatorre or Jeff Francis or Randy Sanders or Todd Helton . . .

I to this day still have a soft spot in my heart for Jeff Francis because he was QB when I first really started figuring this football thing out.

Actually saw he and his wife and Dead End BBQ a couple of weeks ago.

And I know Joey, and I like Joey, but he is still the worst QB to ever start a game at UT. Well, maybe CJ Leak. But that was out of necessity.

Did James Banks start against UGA or was he put in almost immediately after the game started?

Leak started. Banks went in sometime in the first half.

If we had actually opened up the playbook before the 4th quarter and threw the ball we might have stood a chance.

The difference is quite simple. If you leave UT to go to another school.....Dingleberry

if you leave another school to come to UT.........Hero

Is that a double-standard? YES!

It ain't fair...but neither is life!

JC had the most loses in UT history for any two year span. It don't get any worse !

That was pathetic.

How in the hell a big time program like Tennessee doesn't have more than 1 serviceable QB on the roster is beyond me.

But anyways...
