Thanks for the link but I was around then. I'm well-aware of the CJ Boleman debacle.

I knew you were, I just didn't know if you ever happened to read said thread.

That was one of the funniest posts I've ever read, though.

If your only measure of success in the NFL is Super Bowl wins, your expectations are a little lofty. Rex Grossman played in one. Jay Cutler has had relative success. You definately hurt Kenny Stabler's feelings. What did Archie achieve? Really?

I love how you guys pick out one area that I wrote and then pick it apart. My whole discussion was with another person about how qbs in the FCS do not face superior competition as the qbs that play in in the FBS (particularly the SEC). I was pointing out that just because a qb plays for an SEC team does not guarantee that they will go on to have success.

Grossman - He did not do well in that Super Bowl if I remember and ended up losing his starting job to Kyle Orton and is no longer a part of the Bears team.

Cutler - The book is still out on him (decent to good years in Denver, bad year last year)

Stabler - Sorry to leave him out, even though I mentioned A. Manning and Namath I am focusing more on the present.

A. Manning - NFC player of the year, 2 pro bowls, and passed on some good genes to Peyton and Eli.

I agree with your initial point. I was simply pointing out that your post didn't strengthen your argument. It caused a separate debate because it was full of holes. No malice was intended, my friend.

Well thanks for agreeing with the initial point... Its hard to defend one's self against a multitude of people. Actually I am sort of glad that Coleman transferred to UTC. Our football team is at least showing life. Having a Mockingbird for a mascot is bad enough.

I totally understand. It's no fun putting your opinion out there only to have people question it. How absurd!!! :) You should do like me. Wait for people to make a statement, then just bombard them with slurs and sarcasm. It's way more fun and you rarely get your feelings hurt. :)

Never say anything of substance in the off-season. It becomes a turkey shoot. You're much better-off making a Braveheart speech.

:ill_h4h::ill_h4h:
1. No BJ should not be in class since UTC is in the summer session.
2. He did statistically beat out Crompton last year... and Poole did not get a fair shake by the previous staff.
3. He has elevated the Mocs playing ability.
4. It would be nice to have star players from Tennessee playing for the VOLS.
5. *Of course I am biased in all of this since I am from Chattanooga, and I attend UTC.*

No one probably cares but I found these quotes on Coleman:
Link: Alabama to face SEC-caliber quarterback in Chattanooga's B.J. Coleman on Saturday | al.com

"Going back to 2007, former Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe was the driving force behind the Vols signing Coleman, who at the time was "very interested" in Alabama and never received a scholarship offer from the Crimson Tide. Then Cutcliffe left after the 2007 season to become the head coach at Duke."

"They're very efficient and effective passing the ball," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "I think he's a Division I quarterback in every way and probably could play quarterback in our league."

Saban later added, "...if UTC was miraculously allowed to join the SEC."

I don't know what I would be naive about? I didn't write the article and Saban was the one quoted in the article. Surely you don't think you know more than Saban.

I know Saban would have never handed the reigns to his team to a guy who couldn't beat out Nick Stephens.

Saban also said "probably could play". It's not as if he proclaimed CJ Boleman was the next Joe Mantegna. :)

Simple fact is, if he "could" play QB in the SEC, the A) he would've won the job at Tennessee, or B) he would've transferred to another SEC school.

Case closed. The end.

Did Cut offer to let him come to Duke?

So you know more about if he can play compared to Phillip Fulmer & Cutcliffe that recruited him and Saban (all have been SEC coaches)?
Why does he have to transfer if he has the skills to play in the SEC?

There was talk of that in Chattanooga, but I do not know how reliable the sources are... Coleman has also stated that he wants to help build the Mocs into a good program with Coach Huesman.

That Coleman is a good quarterback even though he does not play in the SEC anymore and that he still has a chance to succeed. By the way besides Peyton and Eli what quarterback from the SEC has achieved anything in the past 15 years. The only other big time quarterback besides these two that achieved anything was Joe Namath and Archie Manning.

you sure about this little gem?

Saban was following the classic pattern. You always praise your competition, especially their leaders. It helps the team stay focused and motivated and makes an easy win seem harder than it was.
