Bad news for Gators...

"The bottom line is (the coaches) won't let his talent be shown on the field," she said. "Maybe he needs to be at an institution where all his talents can be taken care of. He needs to grow. He needs to be in a situation where they will develop him and not put him in one play and take him out the next. They would only let him run the ball and if he made one mistake and they would take him out.

HELLO Ms. Portis! He's a freshman playing behind one of the best 2 or 3 QBs in the SEC? This makes no sense whatsoever.

He's either got academic problems or he's getting really bad advice.

Boy, it is great to see this happening somewhere besides Knoxville. No offense LG1. Sounds like Portis and his mom should do a Chunky soup commercial.

Yeah we are in the age of instant gratification..not sure what he was thinking. No way he was going to come in and get immediate playing time over Leak.

Either way UF will be fine...still have Dickey and Cornelius as backups..then there is Tebow, and the possibility of Schaeffer so we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.

Portis should have redshirted..but it makes me wonder if something else was going on behind the scenes since he was Meyers boy.

Sounds like the makings of a convoluted situation....Schaeffer, Tebow, Leak and the rest that is currently there.

One of these days, somebody is gonna remember to tell these players that real life isn't like high school.

Thank God.

I agree with the instant gratification comments. To me, this is another symptom of the lure of pro money. It is corrupting what is left of college athletics. It long ago ruined any chance college baseball had because every 17 year old that can throw more than 80 m.p.h. gets drafted and even the worst of them gets a six figure signing bonus.. It is already undermining college hoops. These kids are so short sighted in their pursuit for the $.

sounds like he wasnt going to play much anyways if they are going to get tebow who is a better prospect. Let him transfer its probably better for both parties anyways. He will go to a smaller school where he will get to play and Meyer will get to start tebow which he would probably have done anyways.

If he committed to play for Utah under Meyer obviously the most important thing to him was playing time not who he was playing for or where.

Really? How could you tell by all of his fumbles?

I'm too busy admiring Chris's pretty interceptions.
