"The bottom line is (the coaches) won't let his talent be shown on the field," she said. "Maybe he needs to be at an institution where all his talents can be taken care of. He needs to grow. He needs to be in a situation where they will develop him and not put him in one play and take him out the next. They would only let him run the ball and if he made one mistake and they would take him out.

HELLO Ms. Portis! He's a freshman playing behind one of the best 2 or 3 QBs in the SEC? This makes no sense whatsoever.
He's either got academic problems or he's getting really bad advice.

Changing schools, particularly with his mother as a prominent player in the choice, is nothing new for Portis. When he chooses a new school, it will be his fifth since April 2003, when he left Redondo Union High for California football power Long Beach Poly.

I agree with the instant gratification comments. To me, this is another symptom of the lure of pro money. It is corrupting what is left of college athletics. It long ago ruined any chance college baseball had because every 17 year old that can throw more than 80 m.p.h. gets drafted and even the worst of them gets a six figure signing bonus.. It is already undermining college hoops. These kids are so short sighted in their pursuit for the $.
