From Mitt Romney, Bain Capital and Clear Channel | TV and Media Blog
An interesting observation by radio analyst Tom Taylor, from his Taylor on Radio newsletter from Radio-Info.com today:
Suddenly, Clear Channel co-owner Bain Capital is in the middle of the GOP campaign.
Bain, the private equity firm co-founded by Mitt Romney, was also part of the private Cumulus Media Partners, until the public Cumulus Media Inc. bought out its interest.
Nobodys mentioned Clear Channel yet in the debate over Bain Capitals role in the American economy. (After all, Bains been involved in a hundred or more deals.) But one TRI reader says it was a little weird watching Sean Hannity defend Bain Capital in a discussion of free market capitalism when I know that Bain has an interest in Hannitys syndication company. Thats Clear Channel-owned Premiere.
Its going to be a strange year.
Clear Channel owns WLW-AM, WKRC-AM (which airs Hannity and Rush Limbaugh), ESPN WCKY-AM (1530), Fox Sports WSAI-AM (1360), WEBN-FM 9102.7) and WKFS-FM (KISS107.1). Premiere also syndicates Bill Cunninghams 10 p.m. Sunday show and Gary Sullivans weekend fix-it shows.
Cumulus owns WGRR-FM (103.5), WRRM-FM (WARM98.5), WFTK-FM (96.5, 96ROCK), country WNNF-FM (94.1) and classic rock WOFX-FM (FOX 92.5).
