In the fine tradition of David Palmer and Santonio Beard, Bama back-up QB John Parker Wilson was arrested last night on DUI charges (according to ABC33/40 in Birmingham).

Win a few games and look what happens.

I agree they have thrown a lot of junk our way for our problems. However, I'll say the same thing I said about UT's players. These are young men playing a very high-profile sport and are college students. Lots of people make mistakes when they are young. One only hopes he can learn from it. Hopefully Shula gives some consideration for that, like CPF. :dunno:

It will be interesting to see how CMS handles it. If I remember correctly, Ray Hudson (starting RB) was suspended one game for failing a drug test. The game was either a non-conference foe or cellar dweller in SEC. Suspension did not carry to next game -- against Auburn.

Interesting also that while there has been no shortage of discussion of UT players' indiscretions, the moderators at Tidefans keeping closing any threads that attempt to discuss the matter.

Quote from Tidefans mod.

"There's nothing to discuss at this point, other than to bat rumors around, and we're not going to do that. We never have and we're not going to start. The facts seem to be blurry at this point, so we will wait until there is an official statement on the matter, which should come in the morning. Patience...

Edit: there are reports that his name appeared on the blotter and then disappeared. It's possible the case was "diverted," which can be completely legit with a juvenile offender. Also, being a juvenile, those records will be confidential. At this time, it's being handled internally. At any rate, there's nothing which can be discussed at this point, other than rumors, so we will wait for it to play itself out..."

I'm sure this rule applied to any posts regarding UT players

Also, I'm not sure how old he is but he was a grayshirt last year so he's been out of high school for well over a year. Not sure how that qualifies as "juvenile".

That's what I was thinking. Maybe it depends on when they bought him. :dunno:

i could be wrong but i think a grayshirt freshman is one where you practice with the team in the spring, and then play in the fall. (practice with the team while in high school)

But it doesn't matter anyway. Your considered a juvenile until the age of 21.

vol in b-ham you ought to know if he was in high school last year. He led the team to 6-A state championship. (Hoover High School) the biggest in the state. They had like a 2 year winning streak until Tuscoloosa county beat them last week.

But anyway i THINK he was in high school last year, so that would make him 18. maybe 19 :twocents:

Likely CMS will suspend him retrospectively for the Utah State game. Teach him a lesson! :biggrin2:

correction "retroactively" instead of "retrospectively". (caffiene deficiency)

In some states you are considered an adult at 18 years.

Just read where the adult-age in Alabama is 19 years. You are considered an adult.

In this case, he was not in high school last year. He signed as a gray shirt last Fall (out of school) as a way to conserve scholarships. This allowed him to practice some. He resigned with the Tide this year allowing him to be a true freshman but he was not in high school last year.

Here's a link to the story.

He is now 20 years old but was not yesterday! He was arrested one day prior to his birthday.

He's old enough to know better, drinking and driving pisses me off, when you fight or steal or break curfew or cut class or whatever that effects you(and the other guy if you're fighting) but getting behind the wheel after drinking and you endanger every person that happens to be on the road with you.

Agreed. I drink beer but never when driving because there are thousands of folks in cemeteries that would'nt be there yet if drinkers used common sense and were less selfish.

Yeah, I guess you're right....fights don't effect anyone but the other people involved...... for example the guy John Rollins murdered. Well, at least he wasn't drunk driving.

fighting at a frat party and killing somebody is obviously 2 different situations, my point is that drunk driving is stupid and reckless and any player of mine that got caught would not have to worry about suspensions they would have to worry about which school they could transfer to if they wanted to play, fights are emotional spur of the moment things in most cases, drinking yourself into a stupor and then getting behind the wheel of a car is dangerously irresponsible.
