Alabama has reeled off six wins in a row against the Vols. The last time we defeated a number one ranked team was Auburn in 1985, some 28 years ago.
Last year McCarron went 17-of-22 for a career-high 306 yards for Alabama. T.J. Yeldon rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Vols lost 44-13 at home.

Wasn't the last time the Vols beat a ranked team was South Carolina 2009 and was that not the same year Bama had to block a FG to beat the Vols.Maybe this time Palardy hits the game winning FG.

That short game winner against USCjr was just practice for the game winner against Bama!

(we can dream right!)

In 1985, when Tennessee beat Auburn, Tennessee hadn't won the SEC in 15 years, nor beaten a #1 in 25 years.

As of today, we haven't won the SEC in 14 years, nor beaten a #1 in 27 years.

Close enough. We win Saturday.

What a great game that was...if I remember correctly, Bo took himself out of the game after DJ broke his helmet on a big hit. I helped bring down one of the goal posts!

I thought the last time UT beat a currently ranked number one team was the 1998 season and the FSU victory (game played in 1999). I attended the 1985 Auburn game as well, and it was fun watching Bo quit in the second half.

Tennessee was ranked #1 going into the championship game against FSU.

I can't say we will win this game. But we will FIGHT until the very end. Saban won't have it easy this year. Bama will have to earn this win. May not be the result we want this Saturday, but the game will just go further in proving Butch will have us at that championship level soon enough.

I have a feeling that if Butch & the other coaches can manage this game and keep it close, we can win it just like USCjr.

All of our players will need to bring thier A game and fight like hell every second to make this happen, but I think it is truly possible. Especially if we can stop the run!

When asked what the TN v. Bama rivalry meant to him, McCarron flat out rejected the notion that the Vols are a rival for the tide.

"Just another school. I don't think about them any more than I do anybody else," McCarron said. "Just another week, another game.

AJ McCarron not buying Tennessee rivalry hype, fondly remembers '09 Terrence Cody block | AL.com

Maybe some of our D-Line can show him this week what the rivalry is all about?

My first game ever in Neyland! TRob and the boys were incredible that day, crowd was electric. Filled out my application for enrollment that Monday.... HAD to be a part of the University after that.
