During spring football practice, sometimes the execution is lacking. Players may be a little rusty, assignments are missed, and overall, things just aren't as crisp. Apparently, that applies to the crew in charge of enshrining the permanent captains in the cement walkway outside Denny Chimes as well.

Chris Pow / al.comThat's great, but who are the Chefs?

Senior permanent captain Antoine Caldwell had his name misspelled in the cement along with the other Crimson Tide captains from years past. So now you can look and find Kenny Stabler, Johnny Musso, John Hannah and Atnoine Caldwell.
Kudos to al.com intern Chris Pow who was kind enough to document this for us on his day off. Maybe one of you Tuscaloosa readers can let us know if this has been fixed yet.
Speaking of mistakes, the Florida recruit who accidentally shattered the Gators' 2006 National Championship trophy has identified himself to the Tampa Tribune.
Highlights from the story if you don't click to read it: His high school coach described the 6-foot-3, 225 pound tight end as "a physical specimen" but sometimes a "bull in a china shop." And that was before the incident in question. The story does answer the age-old question of how to turn one national championship trophy into 3,572 national championship trophies.

The people putting up the retired numbers at UT misspelled Doug Atkins' name. We have no room to talk.
