The BHam area has now produced three finalists for American Idol. But think about how many great players Tenn. has gotten from BAma. The best WR statistically in Joey Kent. The best all around QB in Tee Martin. The best all around DB in J. Allen, remember he can play all three postions and was a lot better tackler than Deon Grant. But did you realize that Mia Hamm, Joe Louis, CArl Lewis, Jesse Owens, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Bo Jackson, Charles BArkley, John Stallworth, and possibly? Derrick Thomas were all born in Alabama.

Derrick Thomas was from Miami. He told Jimmy Johnson (once they were both in the league) that if he had signed him maybe he would have gotten another national championship.

There is plenty of talent in TN. I'm from middle TN and graduated HS in 1991. I played with guys that could have started for any division 1 team in the nation then and now. Unfortunately they couldn't get their heads straight and realize what kind of opportunity awaited them if they would do their schoolwork and not break into houses or other sorts of high character behavior. One guy from my school signed with UT as a RB but they switched him to FB. I obviously don't know the inside scoop but it seemed like he didn't want to block after being the bell cow all his life. CobbWebb was up and running at the time. He was perfect athletic specimen for FB. Even better than my all time fave UT FB Greg Amsler! Anybody know what he is up to now?

I was talking about world class athletes not coaches or above average players

I didnt know ozzie smith wasn't world class... He inspired many young athletes who didn't feel they had the size to play sports to give it a shot and see what they can do. I will take that anyday over world class athletes.

Is it true that Alabamans consider Forrest Gump to Alabama as Socrates was to Ancient Greece?

I had planned a nice cookout today, but after seeing that picture of the lady with her "hot pants" on, I'm not too hungry now. :shakehead:

Would you mind taking that snaggle tooth, near naked Bama gal off.

When I looked at her I got that vomit taste in the back of my throat. :D
