I would say this conference has parity, but it seems like the word should be parody instead. This conference is a parody of what basketball should look like.

Good win for the orange today, by the way.

Bama sits at #2 all time in the SEC in basketball wins. :huggy:
Wow, that took more effort then I was willing to invest.

number 2 did wonders for us last year. Just saying.....Grant suffers from the Andy Kennedy syndrome...they both love tanking towards the end of the year.

I was posting they were at #2 in the SEC standings. But number two in the all-time wins list? Wow, didn't know that.

I still don't think they make the tournament no matter how they do from now to the end of the year.

Right now, they have a decent RPI and are on a roll. I have no faith in Grant when it comes to March Madness so we'll see.

No one. They beat Villanova who beat two top five teams, but Bama hasn't beaten anyone good. Kentucky? We see what they are. No one.

I don't see how an Alabama basketball fan would be happy with Grant. When he was first hired, it seemed like a homerun but he has been really dissapointing. It's funny that the coach you guys canned is more likely to win a title in a better conference than the coach you guys currently have.

All true, but, you have to take both of the topics in context to make a decision.

Gottfried was completely lost, with no passion or energy, in his last TWO years at Bama. He used the announcing gig to re-energize. Watching NC State earlier this year, they showed him on the sidelines and my wife commented, "I don't ever remember him smiling at Bama."

Second point, Bama improved every year up through last year, a year that saw Bama go to the dance. The program had sunk to such depths just making the tourney was cause for celebration. I think the team took a step back this year, but if they win out they're SEC regular season champions. They lost to Auburn, who can't beat anyone else, and they can't score consistently. Injuries have decimated their depth. Critics are once again beginning to come up short throwing daggers in Coach Grant's direction.

My big complaint is that Grant hasn't gotten a shooter. He recruits great athletes. If anyone wants to knock him because of that, then almost every SEC coach should be criticized. I think it's the reason the league is so bad. The teams have athletes but not basketball players on scholarship.

Wait... What?

Alabama has done the exact opposite the past few years. In 2010-11, they had an awful non-conference slate but went 12-4 in SEC play and won a game in the SECT. Last season, they had a rough stretch at the beginning of SEC play, but won four of their last five games in the regular season to get into the tournament. This season is similar to 2010-11 but without the awful RPI.

I'll give you that. Bad choice of words on my part. The whole point is...Grant isn't the up and coming coach people thought he was at VCU. He has done little at Bama.

Grant is about to win more than 20 games for the 3rd time in his 4 years at Bama. Gottfried only did that 3 times in 11 years there. Next year will definitely tell us which direction the program is going

Yep. Next year is the year that will make or break Grant's tenure.
