Any banjo players here?

I'm in need of some help - just purchased my first banjo. The bridge wasn't set (obviously) when it arrived - where do you set it (I have a general idea but I'm guessing guesstimating won't cut it sound wise)? Also - any beginner advice on how I should be learning or what I should be practicing to start out? What's your preference, picks or no picks? I don't have any instructional dvds/books - never have gone about that way when learning instruments - but banjo is obviously not as mainstream as piano/guitar/bass/etc.

ur in luck. ive been playing off and on for the past 2 years. and i have no idea for your first question. but i can tell you that you want to use picks. after i got mine i just went to Pick N Grin for lessons and what not. they got some good players there
