Former USC quarterback Matt Barkley says he’s willing to put the blame on his own shoulders for the Trojans’ disappointing 2012, when they entered the season ranked No. 1 and ended the season unranked. But while accepting that blame, Barkley has made comments that don’t speak highly for USC coach Lane Kiffin, the former Raiders head coach who’s heading into his fourth season leading the Trojans.

I don't have a problem with players taking responsibility for making plays because that's what it comes down to.
And actually, as a qb, he can throw it to whomever he wants and seldom is there only one option in a playcall.
I think kiffin is an ahole and a joke of a coach, but Barkleys comments don't affect my opinion.

Just like the last hand full of Trojan qbs, Barkley will be drafted way to high, and he'll under perform in the NFL. Kiffin gets the boot after the 2013 season.

Getting the ball to a specific player might be a goal when you run a play but you have other options. Unless Kiffen was demanding that he only throw it to him, this is dumb by Barkley and shows that his decision making sucks.

I seriously doubt Kiffin told him he could only throw it to one receiver.

I wonder what ol' Kiffy is gonna do when he gets canned after another 7-5 campaign next year. I hear Fresno State might need some GAs

Looks to me as though Barkley's comments are not speaking well for Barkley.

He's probably correct in his statements... but being right doesn't necessarily give you carte blanche to say whatever you want.

I'd say there's a good chance that the comments did hurt his draft position.
