Barry Odom fired at Missouri

I think expectations were higher this year and last year considering their rosters. They really underperformed in the eyes of the admin and fans.

That tends to happen when you start 5-1 and many are considering you as a potential SEC East champion and then you end the season 1-5

Yeah it’s a little odd, especially considering they’ve been a solid team since he took over. Plus they were riddled with injuries this year to some of their key positions. Not really sure how much better they think they can get at this point

Presumably better than losing to Wyoming and Vanderbilt in the same season?

What’s the ceiling for Mizzou in the SEC? 8-9 wins? They won’t sniff an SEC title let alone a national championship. They won the East when UGA/UF/UT were all at historical low points in their respective programs. They’re in a miserable recruiting location. Theres just too many factors going against them for them to consistently win at a high level.

He improved them each of his first 3 years. They still get 6 wins this year. They’re not that great of a program. But I think it’s clear the administration over there is ****ed up. Have to think their next hire will be worse

Just dont know what they expect. Odom was a Tiger and committed. He had some injuries and bad luck this year. Who is going to step into that situation now and all of a sudden win 7 games?

Gotta be honest, I do not understand this move at all. This is a program that just received NCAA penalties because of something Odom doesn't appear to have been a part of.

I mean in theory shouldn't St. Louis and Kansas City be good croutin?

Missouri thinks they should be competing for championships every year. Yes, they are delusional. They let go of a good coach. They had some good seasons while TN and others were/are down but they will always be a mid to bottom division team. Bad move on their part.

I think they really messed up here. Odom improved their w/l record every year before now and they are staring down the barrel of sanctions. Firing a Missouri guy for one bad season is going to be a red flag for most coaches. When you add that to the sactions and that they are a school that's harder to recruit to, playing in the SEC, Mizz isn't a very attractive job. I would put the Arky job over them right now and they're a garbage fire. They should have rode out the sanctions with Odom and then reevaluated. Elevating Dools might really be thier best option, which is sad.

That’s be a tough sell. Their first call will probably be to Heupel. Doubt he’ll say yes, so they’ll probably end up with a Jason Candle type or go the coordinator route.
I know.......he does have HC experience, but I doubt it. Kinda joking.
Peay up 7-0 though

St. Louis is decent it produces generally around 5-6 four stars (sometimes more on good years) and occasionally a five star, but the vast majority of those four stars leave for various other schools. Kansas City generally isn't anywhere near as good as St. Louis in recruiting terms, 2-3 four stars on a good year.
