Major test against the topshot gamecocks.

This may be one of the hardest road series this season.

Was hoping this group would have came out of the Missouri and Auburn series better than .500. Maybe reality is setting in a bit. First true test against the big boys this week. Hope they find a way to take the series. Would be huge and a big confidence builder.

I think we all need to recognize that the difference between 1-2 and 2-1 in the Auburn series was razor thin. One ball to the outfield in the 9th inning of game 1 (something we have been able to do consistently all year) or if the wind was blowing out like it was in game 3 for either of Stewie's drives to the warning track in game 2 (when it was blowing in) and we all would be jumping for joy with 2 series wins and first place in the SEC East.

The game 3 win was huge (as CDS said in his interview). The teams on top at the end of the season will be the ones who grind each and every one of the 15 SEC weekends. This team is learning how to do just that and is getting better each week.

On the road at SC will be the most revealing test of the season so far. Though not the only test. Winning 2 out of 3 at ASU became even more impressive after ASU took 2/3 at top 5 OSU. Losing series at home to Auburn, even if the games were razor close, looks bad right now as Auburn was figured to be near the bottom of the SEC. This could change if Auburn goes on to have a big season. (Loss last night to Mizzou not a good result).

Bullpen is really being challenged. (and largely stepping up.) Cox is a stud but can he keep up at this pace? Bullpen seems to be used 5 deep. Is that enough? I hope this short a rotation can last a full season in the SEC.

I know he is the coaches son but if he wasn't would we be seeing KS in anything more than mop-up duty the rest of the season? He needs to regain his confidence and re-prove himself before he is put in a meaningful spot again.

You are correct in thinking we will need more arms to get through the conference schedule. To meet that need, it's more likely KS will figure it out than that another arm can develop his level of stuff. An ERA of 6 in the first 20 innings of a freshman's college career is not a large enough sample to write him off as a contributor down the stretch.

I agree. What i was thinking was a pitcher with KS's track record this season should be given opportunities in non-critical spots before being tested in a big situation. Or test some guys who have not been given the opportunity.
