MTSU is going to be a tough one tomorrow. They have beaten Memphis twice, Vandy once and lost 3 to WKU however two were very close games...

Good for Zack!

Wait...Is that good for Zack?

Ordinarily, no. A 26 year old in Double AA is getting long in the tooth. The average age of players at that level is around 24.5, and few MLB prospects are older than their league average.

But Godley does have 36 innings of successful MLB experience, and he was plucked from AA before, so who knows?

That's kind of what I thought and the fact that he's in the same organization was what stumped me...ultimately I guess that is a good thing...certainly not my wheelhouse. Thx.

I would say it's 100% not good

The Dbacks are notorious for being hard to understand with how they elevate their pitchers but this isn't good IMO. Tells me he isn't in their real plans even after pitching so well last year. Appears he only filled in last year as a due to need not so much what they really thought of him

He had a disappointing spring. They kept him there until the last cuts though. Last I saw, he was on the 40 man roster.

How far is he from being rule 5 eligible? With his MLB record he could get plucked by somebody.

Rule 5 is beyond my knowledge ceiling

the minor leagues as a whole is hard to understand.

The Southern League (AA) is a "pitching league" from what I understand as many of the organizations best pitching prospects are there rather than AAA.

AAA is basically a "parking lot" now for guys with major league contracts but not on major league rosters. Development is basically over by that point as they are just getting innings and ABs.

So a guy in AA is still a prospect - and if he's a pitcher, then he's still getting meaningful work. They get more intensive coaching and quality appearances.
