OK guys, I am seriously trying to keep up with all the posts on the baseball site, TheDUGOUT. The learning curve is monstrous! Today I went to the library and checked out "Baseball for Dummies." Those people over there are Intense..to say the least! Any "VOLUNTEERS" to help me out with all the jargon and stuff? :(

I'm not sure yet, but I'll pass it along as I go. I asked a question yesterday about RPI but really didn't get an answer ... Like, how do they figure out how to rank teams. TN had a ranking of 11 but on the RPI list was something like 23rd. And do the COACHES???? get a score in the tally also?

Oh......lol. My bad.

I thought you just needed someone to explain "the game of baseball" to you. I was about to break out that the pitcher is 1 on the scorecard, the catcher is 2, and so on.

LOL.

I don't have a clue how they do RPI.

Sorry.

Come on now Bayou....you do pretty well over there. RPI is an old college football ranking formula that is used to some degree to pick the best teams based on w% and strength of schedule. I.e. you are likely to be rated higher if you are 8-3-0 against highly ranked teams than 11-0 against little sisters of the poor. There is a "mythical" RPI in college baseball that the NCAA "supposedly" uses, but no one has ever seen the formula. Methinks they use the combined poll called the consolidated.

Try this link, then click on polls.

Boyd's RPI which may or may not be the same as the NCAA uses
