Sounds like Rollie Pollie lured some unsuspecting excellent prospects... hope they do well for UT..regardless of the mentally challenged guy who is about to coach them.

So I hope everyone can put aside their dislike for TR and support these kids next spring. Getting Mookie Betts and Parker Wormsley was a huge pickup IMO.

I'm not a big follower of our baseball team, could y'all fill me in on why y'all hate/don't approve of the coach? Just curious, thanks

Far be it for me to defend Raleigh or call off the dogs on him, but this article is about 14 baseball players who could have went several different directions. Instead they decided to lock on in knoxville. Anyone that desires to wear orange is solid in my book and deserves to be praised for their decision making.

mainly his inability to even make the sec tourney during his tenure and also how he's allegedly treated some players.

i'm not the biggest fan of his, but i'm not calling for his head just yet because he has raised the grad rate, which was abysmal when he arrived (to the point where it was costing us scholarships). even with the reductions i think his record should have been better, but i think people underestimate the value of scholarships when a coach is only granted 11.7 without any reductions. considering coaches have to fraction the scholarships towards a couple or several players each, losing even a couple is the equivalent of a handful of guys.

CTR has been a fantastic recruiter all the way back to his days at WCU. His inability lies to taking these kids from the letter of intent and bonding them as a team and improving their skills.

You can only tear kids down so much till they no longer want to wear orange. I have met Raleigh on many occasions and had several close friends play for him at WCU. The guy doesnt have bad intentions he simply has a temper and a failure of connecting with the student athletes. He also has a very low tolerance.

These are the qualities we dont need as a coach.

But I can also tell you just when you write this guy off, he will do something pretty awesome a lot of times as well.

After talking with my buddies this weekend, I have a different perspective on Raleigh. I still hate him for the way he has treated people but I figured I would shed some light for some of ya'll. I know a guy that knew Raleigh at WCU and UT. He said Raleigh has changed dramatically since then. He has been much worse to the players are UT than he ever was there. But my friends tell me that Raleigh has really loosed up this year and is a different guy. His lack of people skills is what kills his teams. The players don't doubt his lack of coaching knowledge. They say if given half of his knowledge to a person with decent people skills, that it would be a force to be reckoned with. TIFWIW

And Congrats to the new guys! Hope they are the spark to help this team do some damage in the SEC!

Raleigh is likely in a better mood when he's not losing 3 or more games a week.

He obviously has some self destructive personality traits that ran off some good players and also ran off one of the best pitching coaches in collegiate baseball.

Sure, some of these guys were problem but not all of them.

Now he may have a whole team of "his guys" but any review of the recent signings will show a roster full of Southern Conference-quality players. They may be "his guys" and play hard but will not get Tennessee as a conference contender and regional host.

I think Todd's already dug his grave as I don't think he could possibly sign a high-ranking roster now. No RA Dickeys, no Todd Heltons, no Sonny Cortezes.

Thats actually really good to hear. Coaching kids to hit and recruiting have never been his shortcomings.

I dont think CTR goes into these situations with bad intentions I think sometimes he just lacks the people skills and the understanding of the affects of his actions.

I would love nothing more for him to make a few adjustments and lead some of the great talent he brings in to great success with this program.

I was just talking to one of his former players this past weekend for a while about it and there is no way we think he is as harsh as he can be sometimes on purpose.

Hopefully he has made a few adjustments and we can see our team move in the right direction.

Yeah, he is known more for his negative mind games. If a pitcher isn't a very tough skinned person, they tend to struggle. Tullo and Morgato are a couple of examples.

the program should go all out to sign the top pitching prospects in the state instead of losing out on them to the 'Dores..

I don't see where you guys say he is a great recruiter. I think Poles is his one big recruit and let's face, Poles is a "legacy guy" that would likely have played for UT if I was the coach.

He seems to be signing players that no other big schools want, sure they're local (Knoxville-Chattanooga-Western NC guys) but that does not make them good players.

in other words, you can't give CTR any credit with recruiting either.

TR hasn't recruited well at all.....you'll see this year with the pitching depth especially
