Basilio echoed the position referenced previously by other posters with respect to Jimbo Fisher: "Despite what folks may say FSU has been knuckling down on their football budget. He has all the players known to mankind at his disposal but he's spooked by FSU's financial situation. They've cut the general budget of football."

With respect to Gary Patterson and Mike Gundy, he offers no new insight but states that both will "get looks as well. Both guys also figure to be in the picture for the Arkansas vacancy."

As for Al Golden, whom many of us consider to possess lukewarm appeal at best, Basilio reiterates that he has "a moribund Miami program bowl eligible despite being on death's doorstep. Miami this morning announced a self imposed bowl ban this year even though they are bowl eligible. A storm is brewing behind the scenes in compliance that Golden inherited. He needs to get out of there while the getting is good. He will come relatively cheap as well. Cheap can be good. He finished 3rd for UT job the last time around."

Concerning James Franklin who, in my opinion, is spiritually contaminated for life when it comes to eligibility for our head coaching position, Basilio states that his "name is being talked about right now by the powers that be. I think he deserves at least a cursory look."

Franklin hasn't proven himself yet .

A one year turn around period does not mean consistency.

I wouldn't offer Franklin even if he was the best thing since sliced bread, if he turns us down for Vandy, that would be humiliating.

He's 2 years in (13-11), in the top 15 in recruiting, has played more competitively against florida than we have, and has taken Vandy to back to back bowls.

I'd say he's proven that he can coach.

But not saying I want him at Tennessee...

Getting Vandy to improve a little doesn't qualify a coach to be considered at UT. Period. His comment about coach's wives tells me all I need to know about that scumbag. Him and Petrino probably take notes on one another, in that regard.

Bitter much... all he said about coaches wives is pretty much true. You dont see many really good coaches with ugly wives.

Close the deal brah.

To improve a little?

You've got to be kidding. First time in the program's history they'll go to a bowl 2 years in a row. He took over roster with TERRIBLE talent. The floor is really, really low, but he has changed a culture. That's incredibly difficult to do.

He's done a hell of a job by any objective standard.
