Personally I would be surprised if we landed either one, particularly Stoops, but these data indicate that, if nothing else, Hart and the monied interests are truly swinging for the fences on this hire. With respect to Stoops, Basilio made this statement:

"Stoops has been at Oklahoma for going on 14 years. It's moving time for him. It would be a perfect time for him to bolt. Would he listen? Indications are that he very much would. Stoops also has underperformed at Oklahoma in recent years which means OU fans are getting restless. His last 6 years haven't been much to write home about. Plus he's lost two home games this year. Stoops makes north of $5 mil per year. So, it's going to take Gruden type money to get him. He's an anti Dooley type which is to say he's the staff continuity king. His staff LOVES HIM. His kids play hard for him. He’s a great family guy. Takes his kids to school. The whole thing. Could UT reignite the fire and winning touch with Stoops?"

With regards to the most recent slayer of Kiffin's USC charges, Basilio adds:

"Jim Mora Jr. is a guy who's got an OK job at UCLA but it's not the Tennessee job. Mora Jr. knows the South. His people have let it be known that he would have interest in talking to Tennessee. He's a defensive guy who has the look, the passion and the NFL pedigree. His ultimate dream job is University of Washington. But he’s not going to get a good look at that for a good decade since young Steve Sarkesian will win enough to keep those folks there happy."

Did they comment about if they thought a new place would fire Stoops up again. It's only natural to fall into a rut, i.e. Fulmer.

For the most part he is just making up fun story-lines/throwing out names to drive up ratings.

Yes I agree with that just not sure how the poster read those assements and came up with him being a blow hard. There are plenty of other things he does to justify it but with this it is pretty spot on.

I believe that Basilio may well have alluded to that point when he stated that "Stoops also has underperformed at Oklahoma in recent years which means OU fans are getting restless. His last 6 years haven't been much to write home about."

I don't recall the source but someone observed that, in the current climate of intercollegiate athletics, 8-10 years is about the most you can realistically expect, in terms of sustained excellence, for the tenure of any single coach at one university, particularly in the ultra-competitive SEC.

I don't think that's the case here since these are two names that have also been talked up on here and by other radio guys. Throwing out names to drive ratings would be more like a Chip Kelly or a Jim Harbaugh type hire which we know would never happen. I have nothing to base it on other then reading the tea leaves but I think there is smoke behind the Stoops story. We'll see

Yeah it wasn't that long ago that Mora sunk his own ship with the Seahawks after saying on the radio that Washington was his dream and alluding to the fact that he would leave his current job for Washington if asked.

That was Atlanta where he did that. To be fair, he was a little bit of a victim of Mike Vick, but he really acted like a jerk. He's be fine one day then a douche the next.

Well I like Stoops but see us getting him slim. He's close tohis brother Mike who is theDC and probably won't go anywhere unless he comes along. Since going to OK, he actually has a very impressive record....

*Now in his 13th year as head coach of the Sooners, Stoops has a combined record of 130–31 (.807).

*He has only lost 4 games in Norman, and accumulated a home winning streak of 39 consecutive games from 2005 to 2011.

*He led the Sooners to the 2000 BCS National Championship and finished the season undefeated, outscoring 13 opponents by a combined 481–194

*Stoops' teams have finished the season ranked in the Top 10 of the polls for 9 of 10 seasons, 6 of those 9 being in the Top 5.

*Stoops has led his team to 11 straight bowl games, six of which were BCS Bowls

On the downside he was given a new contract extension by OK thru 2018 for $34.5 for seven years.

Mora is a Sexton client? And he's making 1.25 mil per year? Having a good season? His name is being floated for jobs? I'm shocked... No really... Couldn't be more surprised.

Yeah until usc fires kiffin and sarkesian goes there. Which will open the washington job for mora.

Didn't realize he was a Sexton guy. Makes a lot of sense now. Just angling for an extension.
