(Basketball) Have the stars aligned for the Vols this year?

I want to use the term Rome wasn't built in a day. Also, it's better sometime to be lucky than good.

1. Stokes, we picked him up in the middle of the season a couple years ago. Good choice to stay another year.

2. Maymon, out last year. It sucked but could be a blessing.

3.Last year we pick up Moore at last minute. A key reserve.

4. McCrae emerges. If Maymon was around would he have broke out?

5.Thompson decommits from Vandy and becomes a Vol. Can he be the key back up point gurad?

6.Out goes Golden here comes Barton. Barton becomes available because of numbers at his previous school.

7. Hubbs 5* key addition.

8. We now have a good bench. We should be able to play power basketball or go small and run with this team.


Now, we have seem to have all the pieces by luck or circumstances. Did all these things happen for a reason? You be judge. Feel free to add or discuss. My first thread go easy on me .

I think we are going to have one hell of a season. Vols forever.

Pops/?
If McRae & Stokes left and Maymon redshirted and CCM didn't get Barton. I say we got lucky

Solid thread OP. I think it goes to show that sometimes things seems to fall just right. Perhaps the starts have aligned, only time, and wins on the court, will tell.

I will ditto Stoked4Zo's good first thread.

Hard to image the pieces coming together any better for us this off season considering the Golden and Yemi situations and the possibilty of McRae and Stokes leaving early. My only concern is Maymon not only isn't 100%, but he isn't 50% old Maymon. Now I don't think that will happen because the guy wasn't one dimensional, he had several different skill sets he brought. But we pretty much know what we got in McRae, JRich, Moore, Stokes, and for the most part Barton. So if Maymon and Pops can help Stokes hold down the middle look out!

Also gotta like our mix of young guys and veterans.

i think they have a decent chance to win at rupp because kentucky will be very young.and playing so many freshmen could be good or bad for them.

IIRC he graduated. So they had no power over who he chose to go to. As long as its a grad school that his school doesn't offer, its not a problem.

Apparently your former school still has to release you?

According to this article Pastner informed Tarik Black & Antonio Barton he would not release them to any school on their schedule this year.

The way I read that article, it was referencing Tarik Black's situation only when saying he wouldn't be released to any school on the Tiger's schedule.

Was Black a senior-to-be who had already graduated like Barton? I was under the impression Black was just a standard transfer.

My apologies, assumed it included Barton also....

But point remains, Black was indeed a graduate transfer and will be playing this year for Kansas.
