SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Not long after inducting its newest class, the Basketball Hall of Fame will take a road trip
The "Hoop Hall Experience" tips off a 30-city tour Nov. 2 in Knoxville, Tenn., and continues through December 2008, giving fans an opportunity to view basketball history without traveling to the game's birthplace in Springfield.
The tour, called HHX, was to be announced Friday morning at the Hall of Fame, with the induction ceremony set for later in the day.
Lakers coach Phil Jackson and North Carolina's Roy Williams headline this year's class, which also includes the 1966 U.S. college champion Texas Western team, four-time WNBA championship coach Van Chancellor, former NBA referee Mendy Rudolph and international coaches Pedro Ferrandiz of Spain and Mirko Novosel of Yugoslavia.
Besides historical artifacts and photos, the tour includes interactive exhibits where fans can call games from a broadcast booth, a trivia game, a court modeled like a street playground, and a retail store.
Dominique Wilkins, inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2006, will visit all the cities as the tour's spokesman.
"My enshrinement experience was one of the true highlights of my career, and I think that everyone who visits HHX will be able to feel the excitement the Hall of Fame has to offer," Wilkins said in a statement.
