I know a lot of people dislike twitter, or think its dumb, that's fine this thread isn't for you. However, as dumb as some may think it is, in today's society it has become a huge resource and a great way for fans to get involved (to a certain level). You don't have to look any further than the football team and Vic Wharton to see what kind of impact twitter has, it has been a huge part of why thy currently have the #1 ranked class for 2014.

So, below is a list of recruits for 2014, and their twitter handles. Twitter is a great resource, but like anything it can be abused which will ruin the fun for everyone, so be smart about it.

First order of business... Jordan Cornish is a little less than 200 followers from 2k, and Philip Cofer is less than 400 from 2k. Lets try to get those guys to 2k followers, do what you can to help.

Good idea. I don't have twitter so I can't follow these recruits. Keep us updated as much as possible.

Duuuuuuudddeeee VN needs a mini Twitter feed like GVX does. We can have separate bball and fball feeds for each forum!

It can just stream recruits, CCM, Vol hoops, etc.

been saying this for a while.... That twitter feed is one of the only reasons I visit GVX anymore.

However, I really don't like having Rucker tweets included in that feed. I could care less about his know-it-all personality, the Cubs, or his disdain for all things UT.

I used to think twitter was dumb because I didn't understand it...still don't all the way, but I'm on it & love it! It's amazing how informative it is. Just read where UT is in the Top 25 of almost every single sports twitter there is including #4 in the nation in football!

This is one of the misconceptions about Twitter...it is not only high schoolers. I follow all our current players that I can find, all of our coaches (@UTCoachJones I believe is #3 in followers) all former players, writers etc. Most of the people I follow are not young but are die hard VOL fans like me. Yes, some of the high schoolers twitter do make for riveting reading. We have some very good young people on our teams, committed to our teams and wanting to be on our teams. You make Twitter what you want it to be.

It's so riveting that every major news channel, celebrity, sports reporter and regular reporter, and virtually anyone wanting news has one.

Haha! Are you kidding me? I really HOPE this isn't the only reason how we can convince kids to commit to us.

Yeah, it's fun for all these kids to have a bunch of UT Fans that follow them. Watch them all UNFOLLOW if they don't commit.

Commit FIRST. Then I'll FOLLOW.

Wharton's original account was hacked, and he had to start a new one...hope that helps you sleep better tonight.

And for the record, if you think other schools fans are like yourself, too good to reach out to kids "not yet committed", you got tricked again.

Twitter helps. Because if you're a fan you don't get to see these recruits simply telling them how great your school is and telling them you can't wait to see them play makes them feel involved and wanted believe it or not. Just go look at #UTPowerHour for football. Recruits are blown away by the amount of fans show them love. Whether you want to accept it or not we live in a technology social media world. Telling a recruit good job or something isn't going to kill you. You being a Debbie downer will.
