In basketball news, incoming Tennessee freshman and returning veterans are participating in unsupervised workouts.

Newcomers Duke Crews and Tony Passley have been particularly impressive. Although no official announcement has been made, it's obvious the redshirt-sophomore Passley has met the requirements to be re-instated from his suspension.

Freshman Josh Tabb, along with Dane Bradshaw and Chris Lofton, are not participating due to injury. Bradshaw is still recovering from wrist surgery while the Vol training staff discovered a slight wrist fracture during physicals. Tabb is expected to be out one month. Lofton’s injury is minor and he hit the court for shooting practice after the scrimmaging had concluded.

Point guard Ramar Smith indicates he now has a qualifying test score, but his admission is still being reviewed by the NCAA clearinghouse.

Lady Vols Candace Parker, Sydney Spencer and Cait McMahon were also observed performing three-man drills at Thompson-Boling Arena.

thanks for the update. You had to figure that was the case with Ramar. I hope it works out.

This is the first time in my lifetime that i am more excited about b-ball than football. I still think we will do alot better in football than expected. Look how Auburn did it when the year before the 13-0 season. There were highly rank and tanked that season......... I am hoping for the same results :cross:

I can't wait for basketball season, either. Those freshman are gonna have to contribute almost immediately, though, if we are gonna duplicate last year's success. I hope it turns out that Ramar Smith is eligible - how C.J.'s replacement does will also be a big factor in how well the Vols do.
