I was just looking for that on utsports dot com last night.

15 total players including 4 walk ons (2 from Austin, TX). All 4 are guards.

11 scholarships.

2 open scholarships are still available. I would have thought that at least one would have been used - maybe a player or two will be added in January like Uros and Santi were.

1 true freshman (Boswell). 4 transfers added. Okpara has 2 years of eligibility. Chaz Lanier, Igor Miličić, and Darlinstone Dubar are 1 and dones. Chaz Lanier is a 90% free throw shooter.

6 returning. ZZ, Mashack, and Jordan Gainey are in their final year. Cade Phillips, JP Estrella, and Cameron Carr will be sophomores.

So ONLY Boswell, JP, Cade, Cameron, and Okpara can be returning in 2025-26 with experience. 5 possible returnees of the 11.

NIL and the freedom to transfer sure has disrupted roster stability and composition.

I definitely don’t think Dubar is 6’8”, but neither was JJJ…he’s got a good frame and plenty big enough to play a small ball 4 so not overly concerned there. My biggest takeaway from that pic is that Milicic is every bit 6’10” and maybe taller.

Yeah, Dubar is definitely shorter than advertised (6'-6 at best), and IMjr is perhaps taller than advertised.

Milicic isn't the talent that DK was, but he is a credible 3-level scorer and that skill-set at his size is incredible. Pace of play probably had something to do with his modest numbers, but hard to believe he only managed 12.8 ppg at Charlotte.

Yea he mentioned the other day the pace of play offensively being a massive difference, don’t want to overhype him but yes, feels like he’s got a solid chance to really impress.

I'm kinda expecting to be underwhelmed this season but hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Last season was just special with a once in a generation player.

The thing is....we didn't know Dalton Knecht would be DK last year. Everyone was asking "Who did we waste this scholarship on"? about this time last year.

Who is “everyone”?

"Dalton is just a terrific story of a guy whose hard work has enabled him to steadily improve his game," Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes said. "He's grown nearly a foot since he started playing high school ball. And as he's grown, he's expanded his skill set as well. He's a proven scorer and was one of the top offensive producers in the portal, so he immediately gives our team a boost in offensive firepower."

Knecht in 2022-23 scored in double figures in 28 of 32 games. He scored at least 20 points 18 times last season and showcased his explosiveness with a trio of 30+ point efforts.

"Beyond being a high-level shooter, his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack downhill with athleticism really drew our attention," Barnes added. "He's another guy who comes from a great family, and we're excited to welcome them into our Volunteer family."

Disagree. I think most people knew who DK was and expected a big impact from him. No way to predict the season he had cause that just doesn’t happen often for any program.

I'm thinking Dubar might be playing more SF for us honestly.

I think the starters might be ZZ/Chaz/Mashack/Igor/Okpara with Gainey/Carr/Dubar/Cade/Estrella off the bench. I don't think Cade will play a ton necessarily this year. I'm sure Dubar will still play the 4 for us a good amount. We also arguably don't have a ton of depth at SF. Carr is still a little too skinny, Chaz didn't have great size, but can certainly the play the 3.

I read a practice report yesterday from Ryan Schumpert (Rocky Top Insider I think). He indicated Okpara and Milicic were the top two additions. He wasn't very high on Lanier and Dubar, which surprised me. Of course it's very early to draw conclusions at this point.

It makes sense at this point of the upcoming season. Ohio State certainly sees SEC level of competition. Charlotte plays good opponents as well. North Florida and Hofstra not so much.
