As of right now, our basketball team is 16-3 going into a tough part of their schedule. With 8 regular season games remaining, we have 5 away games. How do you all think that the rest of the season will play out?

@Kentucky
@Georgia
Auburn
@Alabama
@Florida
Arkansas
Kentucky
@Vanderbilt

The way I see it right now....

@Kentucky is a toss up. We have a good shot at Kentucky this year and shouldn't let a chance like this pass us up. I think that UK is going to have a hard time with the press and hustle of our team. Both at home and away. BUT I think we will be 1-1 against UK this year in regular season.

@Georgia - I'm calling this a win.

Auburn at home should be a win and continue the home win streak.

@Bama - Bama is a bit wounded right now but they just beat a solid LSU team. Good win for them but was it a fluke? I think the Vols beat Bama.

@ Florida - Should be a good game, but the angry crowd will be too much. They're going to want some big time revenge on us for handing them their first loss of the season and ruining their chances of being #1. With that said, we beat them once and we can do it again. I think we lose though.

Arkansas - WIN

@Vandy - Another toss up but I think we pull this one out.

What do you all think??

I'm going to say the ones that should be locks as wins are at Georgia, Auburn, and Arkansas. That said, Georgia is starting to play well. I view the others as toss-ups... they could all be wins if the Vols play like they did in the first half today on offense and defense for a full game.

@Kentucky- I think we win. We will come to play tuesday and I havent seen anything from UK aginst better competition that impresses me

@Georgia- this is a win, two teams heading into opposite directions

Auburn- win, this will be a big win, double digits

@Alabama- this is a win, they beat lsu today, big deal, psu beat Illinois, every has a good game. I think we win and extend out winning streak

@Florida- I am not predicting this game, I dont know if this will be a win or loss just look for sparks to fly and energy soar for this game

Arkansas- win, we wont be losing at home this year

Kentucky- read above

@Vanderbilt- do you really think we close the regular season on a losing note??? this is a W

so i see us 24-3 with a question mark. lets just say we are 24-4 and we win two games in the sec tourney, we are 26-5 and a two seed possibly..

The Gators broke UK in two tonight! I see the Vols probably losing two more games... @ UF and either @'bama or @Vandy.

btw, Coach said he NEEDS people to travel to UGA!!! So get a ticket and GO, especially if you live in GA. (who shall remain unnamed... :D)

Good summary 2345. I would like to share your optimism. I feel kind of bad because I keep preparing myself for a slip up, but all they do is come out, play hard and win the game.

Like tidwell said, it all depends on our shooting percentage. We can get away with shooting poorly at home and still getting a win. We can't afford it on the road. If we shoot like we did against Texas, we'll take care of just about anyone. If we play like we did against Memphis (even though it was close)...it could be a rough end of the season on the road.

Until we actually lose another game though, I'm not going to worry about it. Good news is, this team just keeps getting better and better. Other players are stepping up now and they are starting to really look like a team. Even more than before. Bring it.

OWB, I use to share the same feeling that this team is going to slip up, but the X factor is the switch between Stanley and Andre. Have you noticed since stanley has been on the bench he has been doing alot more straight finishing instead of trying to be fancy and do fades and shots along those lines. seems like lofton and watson have got that back door pass learned to a tee for stanley. and can we really say enough about bradshaw and patterson? both play big, play good defense even though usually outsized. Lofton and watson are two leaders for steals in the sec and the country. I just dont see how we are losing to anyone else. really if you think about it we have lost two three teams

osu- no one expected us to win that game, we were a very diffrent team and they just didnt come to play that game. still alittle hungover from winning aginst texas and cracking the top 25. that was a good reality check game for us

lsu- there big men are very dominant and we played at lsu which was hard enough. we didnt shoot well at all that game. wasnt it like 17% in the first half and we were still in the game? cant wait for us to get a shot at them in the sec tourney

memphis- can you say enough about this team? probably a number 1 seed, taking it to everyone they play, and we went in there house (one of the toughest places to play) and hung for 36 minutes. that is a good team with 3 or 4 future nba players. that was just a tough one and a great learning experince for us

really we are the most experince team in the nation in the sense of playing huge talent (maybe second to duke this year). so my question for everyone is, what can georgia, kentucky, vandy, florida, arkansas, alabama, and auburn show us we havent see yet?

I would be happy to go 4-4 with the remaining schedule

I, too, would take 4-4 in the last 8 games. That puts UT at 20-7 going into the SEC tournament, and I think at least reaching the finals is not out of the question. I'm thinking 5-6 seed, realistically, which may mean we get one of those dangerous Air Force-type #11 or #12 seeds in the first round.

sorry I just cant see us going 4-4.... so we are just going to lose more games in our last 8 then we did in our first 19??? nah dont think so, not the way this team is playing..

i would not watn 4-4. i want momentum.

i would be happy with 6-2 but other then that i would honestly be a little bit dissapointed.

6-2 would be very nice. a sweep of kentucky would be very tough, as would a win at uf. we should beat auburn and uga, but the arky, vandy, and bama games will be tough. i wouldnt be thrilled with 4-4 but i would take it.

At Kentucky toss up UK in a close one
At Florida easy win for UF
At Alabama this is one of those toss ups as well
At Georgia i think UG wins this one
At Vandy this is another toss up maybe Vandy in another close one

I will take the 3 wins at home, but if we can win one or two of those road games i would be tickled 4-4 or 5-3 aint out of the question.

It doesnt matter if we go 8-0 or 0-8 we are still going to the postseason and that itself is an accomplishment. :eek:k:

I was just making a point, i am pretty sure we aint gonna go 0-8. But if I had to pick one game for the Vols to play lights out it would be Tuesday nite at Rupp.

Wouldnt it be awesome if the Vols could do a repeat performance from the Austin game at Lexington

Lexington and Gainesville would be fine with me.

After watching Taurean Green last nite run up and down the court at will just dishing out assists everywhere, really gets me excited. C.J. Watson and Chris Lofton hopefully will have a field day against the cats. Kentucky looked very slow and outconditioned in the 2nd half to me. If we can shoot over 50% and cause plenty of turnovers with our press it should get ugly. And if a frog had wings he wouldnt bump his ass on the road either. We will see on Tuesday i guess.

If I am doing a bracket right now, I have you as probably a 3 seed. I think you will end up as a 5 or 6.

If I am doing a bracket right now, I have Florida as a 2 seed. But I think they will end up a 3 or a 4.

The reason I think we will both go down a bit is that as teams really wake up and struggle to make the tournament, we will have bulls eyes painted on us. Plus, I do believe that the SEC is perceived as down this year. Not that the better teams aren't good, just that the league top to bottom is not as good as usual and so it drags us all down a little.

I think both UT and Florida have excellent chances to make the Sweet 16 but from there it gets so tough and really everyone is so good.

Im thinkin 6-2 is a realistic guess. I think the cats and gators will be the 2 we lose. I think we'll be a 7th seed. I'm also glad to see folks getting more optomistic from the conservative hangover of football's meltdown.

I always like your optimism 2345, but we haven't played near the schedule that UCONN, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Memphis and some others have. Memphis and Gonzaga had nonconference schedules as tough as you will see.
