That doesn't mean there's any added pressure, as Bates tells it, to restore a broken Tennessee football program back to the state it was in when the previous generation wore orange.

“It’s everyone’s goal to bring back Tennessee to where it’s supposed to be,” Bates said. “And it will happen. It’s just a matter of time of us getting together and us doing everything we can to help (Tennessee) this season.

“Taking one day at a time, not looking about the past, not looking about past seasons. It’s all just looking about what we can do right now and bring us back where we’re supposed to be.”
