From Weather Underground: Saturday Night...Mostly cloudy with numerous thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70s. Chance of rain 70 percent.

If the cane shifts to the East a little this will become 100% chance of rain.

We're looking at the possibility of lots of thunder and lightning at game time.

If the game goes ahead, be prepared for stoppages due to lightning.

It would be wise to rethink this game at this time.

I posted a thread here fifteen minutes ago predicting it will be cancelled. See the 11 a.m. advisory. Fuhgedaboudit.

According to the 11am update from the NHC, there is a Hurricane warning now all along the coast south of Baton Rouge. The worst of the outer bands would be over Baton Rouge just about game time. Two questions.....How long will LSU and UT wait to call the game and how are they expected to fly into Baton Rouge in the midst of an approaching hurricane? This is looking less and less likely to happen as each NHC update is posted.

Hmmm......

I agree with your assessment in that thread.

I don't know they'll call it though. LSU has been very despondent in their attitude towards this game.

It's as though they feel the game will somehow cure much of the ill in their area. Silly.

Playing in this weather could just add to their troubles.

If it looks like bands of wind blown rain at game time, which it certainly does, then the game should be called. You don't prepare all year long to play in conditions like this.

Rita's projected path has shifted a bit to the Northeast, about 100 miles away from Baton Rouge. We won't play Saturday.

Dude, if it makes landfall anywhere on La. coast or, say, 50 miles north of Galveston on east, you will have sustained tropical force winds in BR. If it hits around Lake Charles, N.O. will be absolutely crushed. Don't forget, now they have to get all those people out of there again. No way do you play this game. Nothing you can do about it.

They'll just have to get over it. If it does make the turn projected, UT won't fly down there. They can't play us if we aren't there.

This could also be a case where the SEC gets involved.

Please don't say that.....even though it may be true. My B-day has always fallen on a UT game and this will be the FIRST year that one isn't played. It will stink cause this is the first game I will get to watch with my cousin Ole' Checkerboard Charley.

"LSU has been very despondent in their attitude towards this game."

========================

To say the least----they just refuse to listen. The La. gov' was just on tv telling residents to move north. BR is on the WORST side of the storm.

Rita has just been upgraded to the 3rd most powerful storm ever recorded in the Atlantic Basin.

This strom is now officially stronger than Katrina.

People in its path had better get moving.

The levees in N.O. are done. The worst part of the storm is going to come into N.O. Maybe not the highest winds, but if the center is on the La. side of the Texas border, N.O. will get waves and rain that will just wipe it out. A jog to the East ... this could be just horrible.

There is time to move to Knoxville.  I say go ahead and move it there.  But how would tickets work???

Are you nuts? La. and LSU have a whole lot more to worry about right now than a football game. Seriously, some perspective here, please.

Carolina and UT will have to move their game to Oct. 15th.

LSU and UT will then be able to play on Oct. 29th.

That means that we'll be on the road 3 weeks in a row.

@ Bama, @ LSU, and @ Notre Dame.

And you thought our schedule was ugly now.

Would it work that LSU comes to UT this year and UT to LSU next year. That way the schedule would remain intact. Just switch the venues.
